I've decided after many seconds thinking about it to go for a 4.0L engine upgrade in my 02 Tamora thumbup.
I intend to keep the Tamora for many years. I have'nt decided who to go to yet to get the work done - Any suggestions scratchchin.

Also I'll get my shocks upgraded to improve the handling.

What the hell, you only live once, and if I don't spend my money, the Taxman will yes

I have a loooonnng way to go before being able to afford that. Even if the warranty situation does completely cr@p out taking away that barrier, £6k plus won't be in my pocket for years - I'm still paying for the car.

Go for it, enjoy and keep us posted.

Will keep you posted Lee.

I'm doing this upgrade now because I have a top-up endowment which is not worth much.
I would have paid my mortage off before the top-up endowment matures. So I'm cashing it in
now (about £6000) and using the money for the engine upgrade.

I'm still paying for the car too, but enjoying every minute of owning a TVR beer.

Time to go and give the Tam a work out and let that JP sing it's songbounce.bounce

thumbup Good move, I reached same conclusion with my T350.

The 2 companies with the most S6 experience are Austec and Autocraft; I've booked in with Dave at Autocraft as they had more options for a more thorough upgrade (but their menu may tempt you beyond your 6k!)

Mainly mid-range torque - about 40lbft - for extra overtaking urge.

I am funily enough reaching similar conclusions. I have decided this is the car I want to keep (normally change every 3 years) and I was begining to reach the same ideas. The question is Austec or craft and then its a timing thing. I have two large trips due this year which means I need to time it carefully. I wonder what the running in time is on them both and does this mean you have to go to them for servicing! I also love these devices and want one fitted www.accusump.com/

Austec are working on a twin turbo speed 6 project, this should give you enough power for overtaking, but you want to upgrade the brakes!

Well I've booked the Tamora in for the 24th March for a 4.0L Red Rose Standard Spec engine upgrade and having Nitron shocks fitted. Can't wait. Really excited about it.

You only live once.

If you want to know where and how much, then contact me by email.

Totally agree with that statement, BUT I think you are nuts to pay for an engine rebuild to a barely different spec where you will get stuff all more bhp or torque when your engine is(I think) currently fine.

ALL IMHO.

my point is it might be better to do a bit of research as to what you will get for that upgrade which IMHO is not worth the money unless your engine needs a rebuild. see these threads:

You might also want to ask the builder what actually is different between a standard 4.0 and a RR/S/Sagaris engine. It will not take you long to memorise his reply

Surely the point is an apparent 50bhp diff between a 3.6 and a 4.0 RR (or S etc) ?

I think that to call it a barely different spec is unfair. Of course if your argument is purely financial then that is an individual choice.

But is it a 50bhp difference? Or is it more than a barely different spec? Not in my opinion.

Agree re individuals financial choice, but my advice to the original poster would be to save the money for when you actually need a rebuild and at least get before and after figures for the bhp/torque increase. Is 50bhp worth 6K?

BTW, I'm not being pedantic, just want to open the original posters eyes a little before he spends his hard earned.
