This is a problem on my sons Clio ( I know I know, but I do have a Chimaera). The problem is that the cars is running rich, the whole exhaust is sooty, checked every thing, now think that it is the lambda sensor. It is 3 wire one, any way to check it? Also when it is connected, power on but out of the exhaust it gets very hot, can't touch it, is that normal?.
Appreciate any help. I asked here as It may well be a problem that TVR owners have seen before and fixed.

Lambda sensors need to be hot (several hundred degrees) to work, and therefore have heating elements built in to heat them to temperature before the exhaust system has heated up enough to do the job. So them being hot is normal. Clio sensors will presumably have a range of outputs depending on whether they're reading rich or lean from the exhaust just like Chim (or any other) ones, and you might be able to find these somewhere and get a digital voltmeter onto the output pin... I have no idea what they might be though, so can't really help with that!
