Seen a 55 reg grigio sagaris for sale at dream Machines but it doesnt have the rear spoiler.

Does this make much of a difference to handling, i imagine it must.
Also with the factory closing i presume having one fitted is difficult

Does anyone know the car too. Reg GX55 KMO grigio silver with antharcite spiders

Cheers

Seen one similar to your description, it belong to someone in Brighton, who lived right by the seafront, looked a very tidy car when I had a look around it... according to my uncle, there were often pretty specialist cars about there, so perhaps it was a DM employee?/someone else in the trade using it for a bit?

Looks a little odd without the spoiler though... to my eyes atleast.

No!

Whatever you do, DO NOT have one without the rear spoiler!

Whatever you do, whatever you buy, *please* just buy one with the flap on. Or if you do want to buy it because its cheap or whatever, give me a ring and we'll fit an original or one of the improved ones. Whatever you do though, dont drive around in a Sagaris without one for too long.

Shhh!!! The secret TVR style police will have to take you out and shoot you!

Or

The invaders from the planet Zarg won't recognise you as friendly beings

Or

You'll be cursed with 77 years of bad luck, by an ancient Shaman that comes back to haunt the followers of Trevor

Or

?

Because the flap ensures you can't keep up with Porkers, or T350's, on the autobahn

The spoiler is an integral part of the Sagaris set-up - it is not cosmetic.
There have been several detailed threads about this - run a search. We had a long and interesting discussion related to an accident/road holding some time back.
My understanding is that taking it off seriously affects road holding capability.

No reason whatsoever to do with style as I thought by now ppl on here would have learnt from me.

Aerodynamic reasons. Experience has taught me that Im loathe to get involved with aero discussions on here because at some pt the thread degenerates into arguments. Suffice to say that the lack of some sort of aerodynamic device on the back of a Sagaris is a *bad* thing. It is a bad thing the T350 not having one, the Sagaris is faster (can the pub arguments about that right now, this isnt a humerous post)and that just makes it more of a bad thing. The whole profiles of these cars make high speed arse end lift an inherent property. Those who have spoke to me privately know that this is a genuine concern of mine and from those conversations I know there are several 350 owners who share my concerns.

So a bit like Audi TT owners who chose not to retrofit the spoiler during the ESP/suspension mods to early cars then?

At what speed does the spoiler become useful? I'd heard of 80mph, but does it help at say 60mph on a nice long fast bend?

Funny you should mention this. I was discussing the very same car with one of the staff just yesterday! Apparently the spoiler makes a considerable difference at 130+...but of course you would never do that! Would you?

I went to look at this car a few months back - it is / was on sale or return I believe. Search the archives on PH, I found out that this car had had some damage to the wheels following a spin - may not have been serious but just to make you aware.

T350 owner here, could you please elaborate on this?

I have always been led to believe that the T350 was designed "properly" with air-flow etc taken into account?

That would be stretching the truth somewhat.

Mail me if you want a more detailed discussion.

David - do you believe that pre-Sag TVR's (ie all other TVR's) were not properly designed aerodynamically?

I've always wondered if the huge rear diffuser on the Tamora, which was put on that car long before it became a trendy appurtenance that now turns up even on a Renault Clio, was properly designed or not? Presumably it must create some downforce effect on the rear of the car?

I have some photos of a factory T350 at Croft - 2004 sometime, and the factory were experimenting with a tail spolier (flap) then.

I'll try and find them and post them here.

Er...you are asking me potentially legally liable questions and given past experiences of the fights and arguments that have kicked off on here before, Id rather not answer that explicitly in an open forum! I also have information not in the public domain about the cars. We can say the rear diffusers fitted to the current TVRs have *an* effect though. What the strength of that effect is is entirely open to debate, as also whether the effects are positive or negative. Opinions differ wildly on here alone.

Fair enough

- as to who could actually sue you, that would be interesting confused

Perhaps the administrators could add "Right of action against DJC" to the list of assets they are selling? hehe
