Hi guy's,

As the title really - bought a light tent a few days ago and thought I should have a bit of a play.

Not the best images as I think I need to play with the white balance settings a bit.
Also need some cooler lamps - current ones are 2700, need some 3500's.

Comments welcome.

Are you a watch dealer?

The tents do work well for thing like that.

Good work.

You might need more light from the front. That side looks a bit dark to me.

What is it with light tents and watches? This is the first thing I bunged in a tent.

I think lighting is in itself as much of an art as photography, and light tents just don't cut it for me. I feel images from light tents are very flat and the light is too diffused.

I think as a photographer you will advance much more by getting your subject out of the tent. I know light tents give immediate easy results but I don't think they are the way to ensure you progress as a photographer. Just my 2p, what do I know anyway?

This is what you want. In an ideal world of course.

OK, I watch P&V regularly, and I give up. I'm just going to start asking the stupid questions, so watch for me popping up regularly on other threads.

Feel free to call me wendyg-theignorantwoman.

So what is a light tent, how is it used and in what circumstances is it of help. From what you've already said, its for diffuse general light on a close up subject?

Hi Wnedy,

This is a light tent:

Used for taking various types of pic - mainly of stock items etc (I'm sure UKBOB will be along at some point.....).

Good for diffuse lighting etc - provided you set it up right (which I haven't... yet )
