Just wondering if anyone is aware of a way to increase the amount of ping! on my doors when they are opened. I have a 97 Chim 400 (door switch under the mirror) but when I press the switch the door barely opens , I'm sure it used to open more - I understand that the switch is electrically operated and wondered if there was a solution to increase the amount of spring that the door has . Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mark,
I don't think the problem is with the door opening mechanism but the door that may need adjustment.
From a thread a long time ago I seem to recall the fact that the door and boot for that matter need some spring against the lock to allow the whole unlocking bit to work.
If your a dab hand at door adjustment, you need to move the door striker out slightly so the door is under more tension when closed. Then when you press the button the door should ping open.
I had a similar problem on the passenger side (read wife) when the door would not open on turning the golf ball inside or the button on the mirror. I adjusted the striker further out
so the door was held more firmly shut so when the button was pressed the door pinged open in sheer relief.
Problem solved and no more nagging from her in doors.
Cheers,
Paul

Does the 'ping' differ with the roof section removed? Could it be that your window needs adjusting?

Cheers.

I have not tried the above, but I found cleaning the door rubbers makes a big difference, as well as the rubber on the door at the bottom. In this weather they get damp and I seem to get a bit of green algae growing on them (!!) I used 303 Aerospace Protector which does the trick.

I will try cleaning the rubber and checking the windows ( I had planned to try and speed the window action up anyway) Thanks for all your suggestions.
