Been trying to sell my '91 Motorshow Griff for a while now with no takers. I have it advertised on here, the TVRCC site and now Ebay. I think at £13.5k ono it is now at a realistic asking price, but how long do I wait? At this rate I will end up selling it for the same as a standard car, it's already alot cheaper than I paid for it. Any opinions and guidance would be much appreciated.

Really can't understand why it hasn't sold Al.I saw your car at the growl,and thought it was lovely.The price is very,very fair for sure.I can only think that it's low price makes it appear less special and important than it truly is?Personally i'd love it if i could afford it

I don't think the history interests new buyers - only established TVR Griffith fans realise it's significance IMO. Also TVR did not value it's landmark cars at all and that rubs off on potential buyers. This might change in another ten/twenty years' time.
Maybe there are too many 'special' cases - first three Griffiths made, BVs, Motorshow cars, Roadtest cars, Clarkson's BV, first 500s, T5/Serpentine, SEs, etc. For a small run of specialist cars I tend to think they are all special.
The colour combo, pale yellow/green and the fact that it's 'only' a 4.0 probably limits it's appeal to newbies too.
Regret to say it but it probably is only worth the same as a later precat 4.0 - I do hope that I'm wrong though.

PS With excellent 500s now available for 10K the choice for the uninitiated wanting a powerful TVR Griffith weighs against very early 400s. History may be well and good but 3.5K is a nice back-up wodge!

As someone who's just bought a 1992 Griff I'm afraid I agree with Roberto. The "motorshow" car bit wouldn't sway me at all... and in fact a 1999 "Limited edition" car that sounded good in the ad recently sold on ebay for £12,300.
What I was looking for was something with good servicing history, in the right colour combination for me, with the right miles BUT most importantly a competitive price for the condition.... and with a couple of later nice sounding 500's on PH at the moment at about 10k and a couple of precats have sold for 9k and under (inc mine) I'm afraid to say yours looks steep...

I see where you're coming from but it's not just a Motorshow car, it is one of the first three and the first customer car. As for appearing too cheap, I did try at higher prices with no joy whatsoever, at least at this price area I have a a small bit of interest. I have only advertised it on here and TVRCC site as I only expect it to appeal to current owners, Ebay is just for the hell of it and see what happens, if it doesn't sell on there it's only £10 lost. I'm not going any lower than current price, if there's no sale before Summer I'll keep her and see you all at the Growl.
