Recently borrowed a 360 manual for a test. But when I handed it back to its owner he, complained that I had thrashed it as there was loads of breakdust on the wheels. I wasnt aware of the fact that I was thrashing it and was driving it how I drive my 355 manual. This being the first 360 manual I have driven, i am unsure whether it is my fault, although I had great difficulty getting thecar into second gear, and had to change straight to third most of the time. I also had difficulty in getting it in to gear in the morning, and it took nearly an hour of warming the engine before i could get into reverse(is this normal). ive never had brakdust problems with the 355 or my 360 F1. Any help would be appreciated on this, as the guy has got his solictor contacting me. Also he has taken the car to get tested at a garage. What do these tests show?

sounds like he's just trying to shit you up and admit thrashing it, then claim you've knackered something up. There is a chance they can get an ECU readout, which will prove that you didn't thrash it... right?

besides, it's a Ferrari, it was made to be driven!

does the ecu readout tell you what its done for the past 100 miles or so or does it just say what its done in the past? Never had to use one before. And obviously i drove it like a ferrari, theres no oint getting one and driving at 30mph in 4th gear is there.

The ECU readout will tell you everthing since it was last reset.
The 360 manual gearbox is not obstructive at all in any gear hot or cold.

The guy told me that all 360 manuals took a fair while to get moving. And a friend said his 328 could take up to an hour some mornings, so just waited. (i was also stuck at the bottom of a hill so couldnt go forwards)

Is that so. Ive never had any problems with the gearbox on my 355, but at the time i had no reason to disbeleive him.

Did you sign any contract when you picked up the car?

yeah I signed a form he had printed off saying I wouldnt let others drive it and that I wouldnt take it on a race track. And bits and bobs like that, but nothing particuly legal, i dont think

Does he want you to pay for a car wash to clean the wheels?

If only I had cleaned it. He says he wants compensation for the clutch "that I thrashed". Ive told him to get stuffed, but his solicitor seems to want to take it further.

Do you know how soon ECU results are obtained.

They are instant once the SP2 is connected up the details are on screen and can be downloaded, loads of info is available so they may only download what they feel is significant if that option is available.
IMO sounds like car already had problems and he is going to try & pin them on you.

Yeah, it is worrying me. I mean I did test out its abilities, but I wouldnt dream of "thrashing it". It was a potential buy (not anymore).

Just a thought but different types of brake (note spelling) pads wear out at different rates and give off different quantities of brake dust (ie standard, pagid, ferrodo etc). Has he recently changed the type of pads?

Ooopss sorry about spelling. Not sure if brakes are new or not. Would there be more dust if they were newer?

Sounds like he's trying it on. Also, I dont think 360's need 'warming up' like, say, a 348, before you can select different gears. I dont think I'd be following up that purchase!
