I have had problems with my XE engine overheating lately and have flushed the system, fitted a new thermostat, and put a better electric fan on the rad. The rad is a normal Toyota Corolla GT rad.

Now I have a few more things to change. I will stick a new water pump on as theyre only £25 from my motorfactors, and I will put a steel head gasket on just for peace of mind....But I have one thing on my mind

On the back of the head there was a hose for the heater. As my car doesn't have a heater I drilled and tapped that, then put an ally bung in. Does this affect anything? I started to wonder if that could be cause of problem. Any ideas? Deffo no air locks or anything like that. System bled properly.

My radiator has following config

Left, bottom goes to engine block
Top left goes to thermostat housing with aid of two 90 deg samco's and a bit of pipe
Bleed is on my throttle bodies

Cheers

James

I had blocked off the pipe that originally went to the heater. Going to re-route this back into the lower rad hose tomorrow and see if that cures my problem!
