Expect heavy premiums initially (with base price in the QP region) so better sit down and wait for 1 year or 2 and see how it goes (let others do the everyday-use and road/track testing). I guess it will be a better product then... simply remember the early coupes, both 3200 and 4200. Loud talk of a more powerful engine for MY 08 onwards.

Interior IMHO is VERY dissapointing. Lacks the style (if by style we mean simplicity and connectedness with what a GT should be, plus luxury) of the 3200 and 4200; and I would say even 3200... the 4200 started to look a bit off mark... despite myself owning one (they reinstalled the 3200 flair with the GS).

Will be in Geneva, so I'll see it in the flesh.

First impression is that its too angular and mean looking. Maseratis should be curvy and sexy imo.

I think this GT will ensure the 3200 (even the 4200) and the GS a place in Maser stable as classics.

Well I love it. I wouldn't change one thing about that car. It looks aggressive enough to suggest its intent without ceasing to looking achingly beautiful at the same time. The only thing wrong with that car (actually it isn't a fault of the car, it's a fault of mine) is that I can't afford one - Otherwise I'd have been straight on the phone to a dealer this morning on the strength of its looks alone!!! Sensible? No. But then being consumed by passion never was a prompt for sensible actions! It's reassuring that, in this over-regulated, H&S-smothered, PC-obsessed age, someone can still make a car that makes me feel like this. Thanks Maserati! I can't afford your car but the feelings I experience every time I look at pictures of it are priceless!!

Stunning..its given Maserati a modern view with just enough Maserati trade marks to give it identity....forget the 911 and Aston this is, IMHO, fresh, stylish and different....well done Maserati.

Hiya John... where I've been... scratchchin

Snowed-under (it's half past midnight and still working irked) as I'm moving jobs next week and I need to close things-up. In the middle of which I had a computer crash at home (HD gone) and with that my personal e-mail address book (send me a msg to recover yours).

Seen the vid Sy did on the last Beckton meet (very unfortunate I couldn't make it) and seems you lot enjoyed the run cool

On the new GT, oh well, if you look at the concept drawings from Pininfarina and the real thing you cannot avoid yuck

In fact, I was up for a deposit for the new baby (despite knowing it would be better to wait, all that... I was tempted) as I knew about the concept design sketches well beforehand, but got a bit lost as to the real deal, a version of which was unveiled to the dealer ring at the last Paris show. In fact, on the basis on comments from 3 people who SAW the mock-up in Paris, that it had a 599 flair in its design (so I thought... hummm, not as radical as the concept drawings I had seen -what everyone sees now- but the flavor was kinda there) but they watered-it down massively (thinking US market?) It just doesn't look quite right to me. But agree I could be suffering some eye-strain...

Now, the interior is CRAP. Period. It looks like your standard BMW or Jap unit, with that sort-of side to side aluminum (?) trim... even it they put carbon I would puke. Looks like a sedan interior, high-end, modernist, agree, but your round-the corner sedan. Does not hold your breath. WTF they had in mind (US market again)? The 4200 isn't quite right either, but this is just... oh well, enough said.

So I'll wait to see it in the flesh in Geneva and that will clear my mind. Still, at just over 400 BHP is underpowered for its weight (1880 kg, 200 kg MORE than the GranSport with the same powerplant) and WTF is this all about a GT with auto transmission?

My deposit stays with me at the moment.

Cheers,

Ed

PS : Any meet in the making?
