Just wondering - has anybody here ridden one of the latest 600' and 1000's, 2005 / 2006? The obvious difference is power but I wondered how different they are in the corners both on the road and track? They say my K6 GSXR 1000 feels and behaves like a 600 in the corners but having recently sat on a Triumph 675 and realised it could probably float away, I'm not sure how true this is? For me, most of the fun is in the corners though I do enjoy a straight line blast!

A 2006 R6 seemed pretty matched at corner speed on Sunday at Silverstone, the limiting factor was my pegs as already suggested. However, come the straights!!

Nope, blue with the rider wearing Ducati Dainese Yellow leathers. He went down in my estimation when he started carving through novices at the apex of each bend round the Stadium section before the start/finish straight. Muppet!

The thing with sessions is that you'll always find strong riders in the novice groups for the simple reason they want to show everyone how fast they are.

This isn't always bad (James, for example, didn't take the piss with it) but there are one or two loons out there.

They grouped into Novice, Intermediate, and Fast groups.

The Novice group had a lot of 'novices' and a handful of competant riders with a blatant disregard for the rules laid down by the organiser.

The Intermediate group was full of die hard, over confident riders who seemed to have the most crashes on the day.

The Fast group seemed to be a little faster than the Intermediates but had an inherent respect for each other and were very tidy all day long.

I chose to ride with all my friends in the Novice group to help my sister and my friend who have been suffering from mental blocks as a consequence of diesel spillage last year.

I believe that I would have been better in the Intermediates but would have disliked the hero element. So basically I pushed it a little where I could be clean through the other novices and then when the traffic was greater, I would relax off and follow until clear again, giving as much room as possible (6ft as directed by the organiser). There were a few open bends where I could ride round the outside of people without affecting them too much.

Always is. It's the group to avoid IMHO. Most ofthe inters riders aren't actually *that* quick though. They look quick as they're effectively trying to race each other, with few of them actually having bothered to do so for real!

Ditto, though I was glad to be in grp 1 after lunch when my brakes were totalled as it meant I could drop the pace whilst still be quick enough to get past slower riders.

My mate on the 6R carved up the inside of left hander in the chicane, nearly taking me, and instructor and an instructee out in the process - he was just determined to overtake me. Still, he got his comeuppance on the next lap when he ended up doing some grasstracking!! Luckily he kept it upright. I did register my displeasure with him on the way home - he barely left 6" gap, left alone 6ft!
