Boooring wheelchair-related practicalities
Discussion
Sorry, all. Need a few answers before I can have a go at booking. Apologies for being very very dull.
1) Is there going to be a wheelchair accessible loo on the campsite? Needs to have stuff to hold onto and room to turn a chair inside.
2) Any chance of securing a parking/camping spot fairly near the main stuff, please? 'cos grass is a Total Barsteward to wheel oneself across. Even manicured Snetterton grass.
3) Various other stuff - basic physical access possible? Will I have full access to the same stuff as everyone else for my £35?
Ta!
please let it all be OK cos I reallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreally want to go now

I spoke to Snetterton this morning for you and in their own words...they have the best wheel chair access of any circuit in the UK. There are 'disabled' (sorry) toilets in Tyrrells restaurant which is right near the camp site, also next to the circuit office at the end of the pitlane, at Russell's which is at the chicane where there is also an easy access viewing area, and at the toilets at the Bomb Hole. Let me know when you have booked and I will ensure you have the nearest point to Tyrells and the pits area. However, this will mean you will need to get to the marquee across the grass which will be about 50 metres away.
Hope this helps?

I'd be very worried about using a toilet that was in some way disabled... Seriously though... that is very, very helpful. Thanks so much - if I'd known it was just a matter of ringing Snetterton and asking I'd have spared you the trouble!
Will be a couple of days before I book - seeing if my significant other or any other pals want to come with 'cos a spare pair of hands could be useful.

I can help becca

HHmmm! You can see why I was worried about using the term !!!
TBH - if you had rung Snet they would have been the least helpful people in the world. The answer would have been..."Pitonheads? Stingray? 2cv's? sorry, you've got the wrong number!!" Anyway, happy to help and hope to see you there.

Cheers G_B, Gorvid and landy_girl - I'm a master at gathering the muscular sort of help when needed (some variant on " 'scuse me mate, can you give us a hand please?" usually works) but depending on what kind of physical state I'm in come May I might well need someone that actually knows me and how my body works - for safety's sake as much as anything as I'm rather easily injured and it wouldn't be safe for someone that didn't know how to lift me if I fell etc. (Planned lifts for the purpose of having a ride in a pretty car are something else altogether!

I'd be more concerned about the physical state of the above helpers if I were you

With one unconditionally-trusted exception, who's already announced that she's "not going all the way to bloody Norfolk to talk about bloody cars", people that I feel are at risk of misjudging things (as a result of alcohol, personality or a combination of the two
) when it comes to my body or my wheelchair - without which I'm about as independant as a beached whale - are going to get very seriously shouted at and/or kicked if they get too close. Not worth risking it when the most probable outcome involves some nice green-suited men in a big white taxi. Edited by becca_viola on Thursday 22 February 00:23

I need to speak to someone directly about one particular area of access arrangements, I think - could someone please email me? I'd prefer not to discuss it on-forum, hope that's OK.
Cheers!
Just re-posting this; a rather nasty episode this weekend has re-affirmed that this bit's quite important. If there's another way of contacting someone organisery I'll use it, but I haven't found one thus far.
Help, please?
BTaP: I'm not sure, but I think I'll probably be able to go.

It's complicated and personal, hence why I need to check something with the organisers.
Of course, anyone can push a wheelchair, but some of my other support needs can only be met by somebody that I have taught how to meet them, and I'm not planning on spending any time at PistonFest on something so tedious as how best to put my jeans on.
