Which Car Show?

Time for a straw poll.
Guys i have a friend coming over from the states this year and he wants to coincide with one of the bigger Kit shows.
So which do you think Donnington or Brands.

Donnington has always been one of the biggest but heard that last year wasnt up to the usual standards (i didnt go last year) - is this true?

Ive heard that the Total Kit show at brands was very good last year but i havent been to that show at all.

i understand both shows have track days on the sunday.

i live in the Midlands but my family are in the South East so either show is doable(is that a word?) and a nice 400 mile round trip will be just what my car will be after by then.

The best show of the year, and best attended by Kit Car Owners and Manufacturers is Stoneleigh International Kit Car Show, near Kennelworth Warwickshire and is slightly nearer to you than Donnington. Donnington was always a close second in my mind, but charging for Kit Car Owners and high price of on-track sessions has dampened enthusiasm of many owners, so as you say it is becoming less well attended and thus some of the smaller manufacturers are also now crying off.

I've never been to Brands Hatch show, but have heard it not quite ona par with Donnington (yet).

i would agree that Stoneleigh is the best show at the moment but unfortunately the visit will happen late in the year rather than earlier.
its a shame that the track day isnt a little cheaper, i am always very interested to watch the different cars on track and nothing ever seems to be too much of a slouch on there. love seeing the tiny cars with mental engines.

TKC Live @ Brands is (I believe) not a static show. It is a chance to get a ride in a car you are considering buying.

Donington enables you to do this, have a look around static displays and pick up a bargain at the spares stands.

Personally I'd go to both.
Brands is better for the track action as Donington can get quite crowded with manufacturers cars and owners all out on track.

Total kit live at brans would be good if he wants to see the cars in action last year was IMOA the best show of last year but if he wants to look at all of the cars under one roof and on track donny is the one to go to stoneleigh wasnt its best last year.

Stoneleigh.

Nothing else comes close. Regardless of what manufacturers do the sheer number of cars at Stoneleigh means there are hundereds of owners to talk to.

I've been 'round the track in demonstrators at the live shows, but unless any cars you want to buy are driven by the same driver I can't see you'll learn much. I'm sure most of the decision is down to a chat with the people selling it and to my mind a chat with people who own or have built one is better still.

Never been to Stonleigh but I gather its the best. If he wants to experience how the cars feel in anger he should visit Brands and have a ride in as many as possibe. On avereage most companies were charging about £10 for 5 flying laps, or free with some if you seemed genuinly interested in buying one. You can stick him in the car with me if you like and I will take him round! Do not listen to Ferg, he drives one of those poor-mans Elise copy things.......

Donington is a good show, but only really because of the track action. For static displays and the chance to talk to owners, Stoneleigh is head and shoulders above.

I would do Brands and Stoneleigh.

Just about to book a couple of pitches at Detling but noticed on this thread little mention of it. Has it been excluded from the list for other reasons or is it generally not that well supported. We are looking to take the Race Car Replicas T70 Chassis and a GT40 to exhibit etc, first time out for these at a Kit Show, are we wasting our time.

I quite like the Detling show, but for me the car park is just as good as the show. It is quite busy there, especially if the sun is shining. Hopefully I will be there with my car fresh out of the paintshop. A few years back they made a real effort with things like a dragstrip. But out of ALL the the cars in attendance, only four of us were brave enough to do it. Which was a bit of a waste of time for the organizers, and they didn't do it last year. My old Fury Fireblade and a Caterham Vauxhall were the only ones taking it seriously. The maunufacturers and organizers could have made it a huge event around this dragstrip with a little effort, but a wasted opportunity. That sums the show up really, good but not to its maximum potential it could be. Worth going to if you want a specific car, but the owners club stands make the show just as much.
