TDU steering issues
Discussion
Finally took the plunge last week and got a 360 and TDU.
I have been playing the game quite heavily since and have a couple of concerns re. the steering.
The first is that on a considerable number of times the car has refused to turn left and I end up going straight ahead on a left hand bend into the barrier or off the road.
This appears to be a random intermittent problem and it has occurred 15-20 times now.
Anyone else had this problem?
Secondly when driving on twisty sections of road, I find that the steering doesn't seem to flow, I seem to be lurching from one side to the other and having to make lots of small adjustments through the bends. It is fine on more the sweeping curves.
The above point has made me suspect that I may be better with a wheel rather than the standard controller. Any experience/views on this?

Have you turned the traction control off? It's also massively car dependent. The Audi TT understeers like the barge it is. But RWD cars are much better.
The main problem I've found is the "bumpiness" of the road on some sections. Which is more due to modelling of interlocking road sections. Some cars cope better than others.

Since posting have discovered that the steering sensitivity can be adjusted. This seems to have improved things a bit. But am still suffering from the occasional failure to turn left. Happens no matter which `car' I am driving. Sometimes at speed, sometimes at crawling pace. Definately appears to be some kind of fault. Wondered whether it was a bug in the program or perhaps a controller problem. Almost completed one of the car delivery missions the other night, only a couple of miles from complete, full prize money intact, took a left turn at almost walking pace, car failed to turn, just edged onto the grass, deducted several hundred dollars from the prize (and obviously would have lost the 50% bonus). Had to do it again. Less than chuffed!!
If you are using the MS racing wheel expect this problem regardless until the update is out.
If your using the MS control pad, switch it onto hypersport, and use the scandinavian flick to get drifting. I practiced with the 288GTO tuned to stage 3, worked very well. Head to the hills to practice.

I am using the controller and suspected a fault as a possible explanation. Played the game for around 3 hours last night and the problem only occurred once or twice.
It is the only driving game I have played yet. I have PGR3 but didn't want to play that yet until I had hammered TDU to death!
May have to break into PGR3 on the grounds of research to see whether the problem occurs when playing that game.
Have played another game which is not a driving game and not had any problems, but then again that game does not involve such heavy use of that particular button.

Well as the other guys have said its very dependand on what car you are driving to.
What RWD cars have you got ?
What RWD cars have you got ?
I have: F430, CLK DTM, AMV8, SLK55.
Played PGR3 last night and noticed the same problem on the odd occasion. I have noticed that
the button used for steering has a push facility and I may be putting pressure on this sometimes as well as moving it from side to side. Wondering whether this may be the cause of the problem or whether the controller has an intermittent fault.
Will try it again today and see if I can determine which.
One possible explanation, and one that I've realised has happened to be in the past, is that when I think I am actually steering left, my thumb is in a diagonal position towards left, which may as well be up or down as far as input to the game goes.
And yes, this happens in spite of me regularly doing it properly.
So the next time you find yourself suffering from understeer so bad you have no steer, look down and see exactly where your thumb has placed the stick.
