How good are they? to drive, reliability, rear seat space, etc.
How bad is the turbo lag?
Are the UK spec models better than the imports or the opposite?

I love mine, it's very good to drive with loads and loads of grip, and it's quick in a straight line too. The handling is more grip than finesse though, it just grips and goes. They are very reliable, but parts do wear out and they are expensive to buy. There isn't much turbo lag really, it's certainly better than the S13 200sx I had before it. There is a fair amount of space in the back (for a coupe!), it's not huge but it's usable for short journeys, I've been in the back of mine once and I'm 6ft2!
Not sure about spec differences between imports and uk spec, the only thing I do know is the uk ones have abs as standard.
I assume we're talking ST205 here.
Bloody fast when sorted out, grips and goes for Japan - although not subtle. If you look after them, pretty bombproof although there is a known suspension issue with the superstruts - more details on my crappy webpage.
I have a drain pipe exhaust and no cats, so spool up is improved. On boost by 2800-3000 revs. Pulls like a train to 5000, then it goes nuts to about 5800-5900. At this point the turbo runs out of flow and it's time to shift up.
Much of a muchness to be honest. Just buy the best car you can find. JDM cars are rated at 255PS, not bhp, so the alleged difference is less. All fours probably produce a bit more power than they're rated at (certainly, for a car that heavy the performance figures suggest that the stock 240 horses are in good health).
JDM cars get climate control. UK cars do not.
UK cars get headlight washers.
WRC homlogation chassis aren't worth any more money to be honest.
If you can't afford a good one, you can't afford to own a bad one......
I can't see anything this side of a 911 replacing mine.

just to add to Mr E comments, yeah they are just about bomb proof but the superstrut suspension thats fitted can start costing to repair banana arms, fiq of 8's, lower camber control arms and all are considered service items just done all mine in the last 9 months.
but once sorted the grip level is huge.
rear passenger space is limited i've had 3 adults in the back and they all said they wouldnt like to have gone further than the 10 miles we did but the kids dont have a problem apart from been able to see out the windows.
lag on mine is hardly noticable compaired to a lot of other cars

The grip is good on the right tyres it must be pointed out.
They do have a lot of understeer on stock suspension but they are a strong car and pull well.
The stock brakes are also good, all you need is some decent pads and some Dot5.1 fluid and you have a nice all round performing car.
I think the imports and the UK-specs are all the same power, just that the imports are quoted for higher octane fuel, hence the 255ps figure and not the 239bhp figure.
My ST205wrc has been very reliable and I do drive mine hard I must say. Done many trackdays, road rallys and also been to the Nurburgring a few times in it.

My JDM car was rolling roaded on Saturday at 252hp (195 at the wheels) and 260ft/lb with a standard engine, exhaust etc. Some of the other cars there with just a boost controller, intake and exhaust were getting 280+
