hello, i'm just getting into photography, and i'm finding myself limited by digital cameras, but struggling to ssahre my slr pics, so i'm looking for a scanner, are there any features i really need, and what sort of resolution do you reccomend, (considering thy'll mostly be 800 by 600).. will a 30 quid pc world one do, or do i need to splash out?

cheers,
hd

dude, i am so in sick of my scanner its just unreal. I bought an epson v700 to scan my mf negs and transparencies. Its a disaster zone. Everything is soft with colour casts and the exposure is often ridiculous. I've resorted to paying someone now. If you get one that works please share your secrets!!

I have used the Epson Perfection range in the past and found them to be pretty decent. I have had this 1640SU for a few years and it seems robust and reliable. It has a light box for scanning slides and negs, but a flat bed scanner is never going to be great at scanning these.
