Was full leather inc. dashboard, doorcards, A/B/C pillars etc optional or standard on an early 996 C2 (1999)? Or was it just the seats and the above optionally specced? I know early boxsters it was optional and they had a plastic trim (yuk!). How about early 996's?

Dashboard wasn't leather as standard, door bits were I think.

Damn 75k car and you could have a plastic dash... just doesn't seem right! TBH, I haven't seen any 996's with a plastic dash...

Plastic dash was standard on the very early cars as said above - not sure exactly when switch to leather was made but I've seen one of the plastic dashed cars and it ain't pretty.... hard to imagine many were specced that way.

Doors were part leather as std. Rear sides were plastic. Full leather was £3500 extra, IIRC

Somone specd mine with: leather A pillar trim, leather sun visors, leather vanes on the AC vents !!

Lots of dead cows, pleased I didn't have to 'peel' that lot.

That's the "extra" full leather trim. Not sure about the UK but I test drove a official Porsche demonstration 996 with plastic dash still in 2000. I'd in any case check this out when looking at a car. Plastic dash is - ehem - very plasticky...

Only the launch 996s didn't have a full leather interior (i.e. Seats, Door Cards and Dash Panel). These launch cars were all non-metallic black and otherwise were loaded with options. As far as I know they are all on R-registrations. All UK supplied 996s had full leather from then on, albeit I have seen some imports with only leather seats and the bobbly rough nasty plastic dash and door finish. The only other 996 that didn't have full leather as standard was the GT3 (optional) and the GT3 RS. As far as I know 'full leather' was optional on most European markets apart from the UK in which it was standard.
