Can anyone give me some advice regarding how accurate service intervals need to be. My 12k service is due and the mileage is currently 11,850. As the car is hardly used in the winter this is more than ample to cover the precious few sunny days we will have over the next 3 weeks until the car in for the service.

However, a business trip has reared it's head this weekend which incorporates one of my favourite drives culminating in a huge underground car park... brilliant! I have done this journey several times in my other cars but when I purchased my TVR is was one trip I knew would come around again and couldn't wait to do it in the T350.

The problem is that it is a 400 mile round trip which will take my mileage to something like 12,250 - 12,300. The car is in good working order with no obvious problems. Does anyone know if it will be ok to take the car and rack up these miles or is it not wise at the moment.

Thanks for any help

Cheers - Rippers

I would think you would have no problem with this slight excursion - especially at the 12000 mile service.

Ignore it's TVR at the moment:

If you go past mileage intervals, you give the manafacturer an "out" on warranty claims.

I'll re-phrase:

If you exceed the service interval, you run the risk of non pay-out in the event of a warranty claim.

I know TVR is a bit of a hot potato at the moment.

Sorry you've lost me - but I'm past caring so don’t bother to try and explain on my behalf, I'm really not that interested.

Normally it is if you go outside the stated allowance...IIRC Audi used to give 1 month / 1,000 miles either side.

yes

Varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Each one's stance will depend on how keen they are not to pay a warranty claim!

Do what I did; phone the dealer, speak to the service manager and ask their advice.

I did a couple of hunder over and as they'd done the previous services and were prepared the dealership were tickety-boo about it all.

No more than 200 miles over on a non factory warranty,I was in this predicament myself at the 12k service and was very lucky that major warranty work was honoured.

I will have had the car for 1 year when the service is due, all I have is a 1 year dealer warranty so I don't think I'll have an issue as the warranty will have almost expired when the service is booked.

I was just concerned about damage to the car in exceeding the service mileage, but I suppose a few hundred miles should be ok.
