Just fitting a Leven Dash, broke one of the triange LEDS on the heater pannel, done the usual search but the part numbers for Maplin and king bright no longer work, any ideas? not bothered about the colour. Also found why the up and down heater vents were stuck on up, cable had snapped, looks to be enough to re-use the existing one.

I think the company that makes them is OMC, farnell / maplins / RS all stock OMC stuff.

I had this problem when I did my Leven dash. They are on the maplin site, you have to look close to see it though. Follow the link and then click on View Catalogue. You'll see a table of Panel Indicator LEDs, and there are some dimensions on there. The ones needed are the equilateral triangle, 5.6mm green, code T4.

So the part number should be YY55K. Please check though as there's loads of 'em on there!

You may find they're a very tight fit!

I've been through a similar situation this week and couldn't find any yellow ones to mathc the original, so settled for the green ones instead. I think the originals were manufactured by Kingbright, but they're no longer available.

Just going through the same process - I broke my LEDs separating the dash from the heater controls. Round ones are Kingbright L424GDT(green) and L424HDT (red) both available from Maplins as YH72 (red) and YH73 (green). Triangular green is L323GD or Maplins YY55k. The difficult one to find is the triangular yellow L323YD which is no longer made. After much internet searching using Babelfish I have ordered some and as the minimum order was 15 euro I thought I should get a few spare. Hopefully will arrive next week. Changing them will be fiddly as there is a resistor in the shrink wrap over the wires.

Remarkably the LEDs arrived first thing this morning, not bad for the Maplin Three day service! On cutting back the heat shrink I found the resistor wire had snapped also, so out with my old resistor calculator, turns out to be 680 ohms/+/- 5%. Got a pack of mixed ones from the local pound shop. The triangle LED's fitted the frame of the heater controls but not the Leven dash (had all sorts of woes with this one, I have fitted three and they are not normally like this) checked the old dash and they were a perfect fit, had to very carefully file them down until it would fit, re- heat shrinked, fixed the cable for the heat direction control, all back together, replace dash fixing bolts with wing nuts and Velcro for the drivers side (why they put this bolt in such a stupid place, especial as you need to get it off to get to some of the relays) and job done. Put stainless Allen bolts back in for the steering wheel, 60p from the local fixing chap. So if anyone needs a single LED or/and resistor, email me.

Removed the shrink wrap and found the resistor in the red cable. Which leg of the new LED does this connect to - long or short??

It doesn't matter, but originally it went to the anode: the long leg.

The important thing is that the red wire goes to the anode and the black wire to the cathode. Otherwise it won't light.

Thanks. Should have it back together as soon as the yellow one arrives.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I am changing the dash and have broken the MIL LED- Its a long story.

Anyway I need to know please, what colour the LED is for the MIL and where can I get them from (Maplins?) and are there different voltages (I'm not very good on the electrical stuff!)

A standard 5mm red LED is fine, although TVR used a 'water clear' LED (it does light up red). They're available universally, but if you went to Maplin you could use their WL27E or the more expensive UK51F.
