Not sure if you have seen this site folks but they have brake pads for Esprits at pretty reasonable prices.

Mark,

Nice site, I've filed it for future reference. But, I'm not certain of the accuracy. They show front/rear brake pads for '85 (my model year) to '92 as the same part number. But, I have totally different brakes (bendix vs. Toyota) than the later cars, so I'm sure this is inaccurate. Be sure to double check when ordering pads from this site. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

If you can find Portefield R4s pads for your car, buy them. The "bite" is better and the pads don't emit as much brake dust...

Thanks Ernest.

Does anyone have any idea where I can buy Portefield pads in the US?

Does anyone know of any other types of pads that will fit an 88 Esprit Turbo that are available here in the US?

Larry Marsala on the Yahoo TurboEsprit list sells them. That's where I got mine. I'll see if I can get Larry's number for you. Also that should read Porterfield pads. I was in a hurry so didn't engage my mental spell chucker

How do you use your Esprit? Show or go, maybe both?
Some pads last longer than others or are a little more dust free, but do not work as well. Are you going to keep the stock disc's?

My Mintex dust up but do not fade as much as others. I'm always cleaning up the car so it does not matter much to me.
There are trade off's to pads as anything else.

I would like to find pads that don't dust up too much. These are for the rear wheels, the fronts are good for now. I oftern drive fast but not on a race track so I don't need racing pads.

Porterfield makes two styles:

The R4 - composite for race

The R4s - "s" stands for street. They are still a composite. I originally tried the Porterfields due to the extra "bite" that they gave as far as braking. The no dust thing was a side benefit.

Here is Larry Marsala's info:

Hybimars Racing Enterprises
3493. South Bascom Ave
Campbell, CA 95008

Phone: 408-274-4222
Fax: 408-879-9650

Larry is currently a GT racer (SCCA I believe) and is converting a '98 Esprit for the track. His web site can be viewed at:

http://home.earthlink.net/~lmarsala/

He calls his racer "the Mistress"
(nice guy and verrrrryyyyy knowledgeable)

What would be a ggod upgrade than just the brake pads are Brembo cross drilled rotors for our cars.

The contact and part number information on these rotors follows: Best Price Automotive Warehouse - 1-800-636-0854 - they fit 85 Toyota Celica, the part numbers on the box are: TO 608, also: 09.5027.70 (I am not 100% sure of the last 7), the other set of numbers is: 43512-14080. People think that because these Brembo rotors only have 4 stud holes, they are incorrect. It's just that the rotors mount to the rear of the hub with 4 bolts. The following was found on Ed Young's web site:
http://lotusracer.home.mchsi.com/lotustipspage2.htm
He is a good resource and Lotus owner.

If you ever order front calipers for our cars be sure to buy the opposite side when using Toyota parts. The left side caliper is actually inverted for right side use on our cars.

Marsala, is very good with general knowledge about V8's and a Turbo Esprit list member from way back. Self admittedly he is a little light in the 4 cyl Esprit dept. Even many 4 cyl people tend to specialize in one model. Ed Young is very good with 88's.
