Car Cover

Hi All,

I think ive asked this before, but does anyone have any ideas what the best car cover/storage idea is?

Ive had the car under a heavy duty inner lined car cover all last year but the boot blistered and so needs repainting. I didnt realise that this was common on cars which are covered (made from fibre glass??)

Anyhow, the cars out of dry storage with the ultima now and ready for the weather!

It needs to live out side so possibly one of those framed car cover things? Ive heard that the car coons are good but a pain for 'in and out' drives. Dont want it to blow away!

The problem is (shock horror) the wedge leaks in the drivers footwell and I CANT FIND WHERE ITS FROM!!! how is the car totally dry but the floor wet? Maybe rises from the floor???

Matt have you checked under and around the battery?? water runs off the screen and gathers where the battery sits, also the servo mounting area and the clutch master cylinder mount

There is always lots of water around the battery...How can i stop this? Drill a hole?

If you drill a hole you WILL get wet feet, I dont really know how to stop it, the angle is all wrong and the water gets trapped

Or park that wheel on a small ramp - plank of wood?

Try sitting in the car while someone douses it with a hose - I'm sure you'll find the drip!

Also - car cover wise - I've been using one for a while now with no blistering problems - you have to make sure it breathes OK. I've posted about it before so do a search.

Depends what you want to cover. In the winter I garage mine but in summer I use one of those Leven covers just to cover the cabin. Works a treat and easy to use.
Rest of car gets wet/dusty though...
Have previously used a coversystems full cover and found it did keep the car drier but does breathe and hence let heavy downpours seep through..
Just mho though..

Certainly worth looking at. On my 200 some bright spark had drilled a hole through the laminate to drain the water away. Brilliant it ran straight into the footwell or your leg if you were in the car. Now if there's one clever fella there's probably more!
