Well, by the look of the colour coded stitching on the seats, I'd say original.

i think that colour looks great on the Chim, certainly very different and unique! the shade itself looks a bit like Sanguine orange, theres a Tamora for sale in the classifieds which looks very similar.

I like that a lot.

Was originally looking for a yellow one, but told I wasn't allowed such a colour. Think I may have broken the 'rules' if this had come up for sale when I was looking.

What would be gorgeous is Ford electric orange as used on the new Focus ST. Expensive paint though.

Madbadger might be right again, that could well be my old car. Orange was hardly flavour of the month back in 1998 and Gerbil worked hard to find a colour we would both be happy with but as always he came up trumps.
If it is mine it has a navy interior (and roof/hood) with orange, but not too bright, stitching on the leather with almost white dials. Just as important to some is what it doesn't have. No aircon and no POWER STEERING. I think that's probably as rare as the orange paint.
I though it was brilliant. We did about 50k miles in two and a half years. Motorways, A roads, country lanes, race tracks. . . We got through a few tyres and tank(er)s of petrol but all those miles were on one engine and one clutch. Oh, we got a few speeding points too.
I traded it in at Barnet in spring or summer of 2001 and it was sold later by the guys at Castle.
I had lots of fun with this car and I hope whoever had it after me did too. I really hope this is my old car, it's always good to know your old car is still going strong.
