N00b question... glasses wearers?
Discussion
Hello, sorry to ask such a stupid question, but how do you glasses wearers cope while using your camera? i keep finding i can't use the view finder properly unless i take mine off, which is annoying... is the only solution contact lenses?
and on an unrelated note, 18 quid for developing two films and two spare films... ouch

I wear my glasses at all time although on certain camera's it does make viewing a little more diffcult. I find my 400D more difficult to use than my 1D just because the viewfinder on the 1D is so much larger and better.
I can see bugger all without glasses so taking them on and off would be a pain.
Suppose wearing contacts would be an alternative but i dont like wearing them..lol

I wear glasses and depending on the camera sometimes i take them off and sometimes i just leave them on. Oakley glasses are quite good because they are small and sit quite close to the eye which makes it a bit easier. I do feel your pain though. Some cameras are definately easier than others too. Most should have a diopter you can adjust so you can see through the viewfinder without your glasses on which is a real help. I thought about getting contacts but zeiss don't make them
both times i have bought a new camrea recently i forgot to adjust the diopter on the viewfinder and spent ten worried minutes wondering why the lens wouldn't focus
DOH!!!
I always get smudged glasses when working, just have to wipe them with the lens cloth and get on with it, cant do contact and cant see well enough to shoot sans glasses
ho hum

jessops taking advantage of being the only place in town that has on site processing
but, considering i bought a lense case and what appears to be a half decent flash unit for the same price, you have to wonder what they're on? halfords/pc world of the photography world?
as for the glasses, i'm just going to have to start taking a glasses case in my camera bag i think, as the putting them on the head option isn't a goer, thanks to my youthful and trendy gelled/waxed hair :P

That's £4.50 a film...Does that include printing? If it does, it's really not that bad is it. Let's say 24exp - so, 96 prints @ 10p a print means you've paid £2.05 per film for the processing.
Ok, so you get loads of rubbish prints* which you wouldn't with your 'pre-selection' of digital shots but I don't think it's that bad really.
Something that most people including myself forget is that you can get a very good film camera (if you haven't already got one) for a few hundred quid - compare that with an equivalent digital SLR and you're spending say £1200+. So, let's say you save £800 by not upgrading your camera to digital - that's enough to get 400 rolls of film developed...... That's 10,000 photos. What's the average lifespan of a non-professional digital sensor/camera currently? Put's it into perspective doesn't it.
Yes - I know I'm ignoring all the other benefits of digital and irrespective of cost, I'm glad I made the move
* not suggesting that you take rubbish shots of course

Never had a problem with glasses with my Canons. When I was first checking out SLRs in the late eighties I did have a problem with the Nikon F801 but didn't with the Canon EOS 650 so that's the main reason I ened up buying in to the Canon system.
I remember Canons being pretty good. My previous Nikons have all been OK, but I'm not impressed with the viewfinder on the D70. ....oh, and I can never keep my specs clean for five minutes anyway. After 35 years of wearing specs I may have to go for the laser treatment. Then again, buying a D2X might be cheaper
