Hello all.

I am thinking about buying a 110 Van and it currently has a NA diesel in, is the TDI engine a simple bolt in affair?

I'm a diesel mechanic by trade but don't know anything about the vehicles, whether it bolts right in, any other changes etc, the car is a Breg.

Straight bolt in thumbup don't worry about wiring the glowplug timer just do it the same as you do with the TD.
One word of warning though the extra power will show up any weakness in your drive train! I managed to get a year out of my gearbox before stripping the mainshaft.
200Tdi is the one I'd go for, Disco 200tdi's can be fitted as well but you do need to make a new exhaust downpie and IIRC move the engine mounts on the chassis.

That's excellent, I only want a little extra grunt for off roading and any longer drives.

Roll on my first Land Rover !!!!

Thanks for the reply, I shall use extra glue on my mainshaft haha.

You'll need it!! Make sure you do get a defender Tdi and not a disco Tdi to make fitment easier. Like I said earlier disco ones fit but you need to alter some stuff look here:

Interesting info on one of the links you posted about being able to modify the 19J inlet manifold to use the disco 200tdi engine in a 90 TD. Is it really as easy as that?

It's something I'd like to do with my TD but the second hand prices of defender 200tdi's has been putting me off as they are often 3x the price of a disco 200tdi

Hmmmm....that's got me thinking now.

Have a nose around I'm sure there's a company out there who make the downpipe. Might be worth a post on LRO forums.

Also found the adaptor pipe advertised at Steve Parker Landrovers in Rochdale. Not sure of price though.
