Talking to a friend of mine who is going to sell her 1996 75 k miles 993 C2. The car is well speced and has a full OPC service history from new and is mechanically A1, but has been kept on the street in london so paintwork leaves a lot to be desired. Firstly what are the key issues influencing sale, how much should she be asking and who is best to sell to (auto trader, enthusists or independant dealers)

car worth in the region of 23-25k,(privatly) maybe a little more if you get a good valet and bring the paintwork up to scratch.
Or me if you want a proper trade bid
Never trust a bloke that races some old knacker of 3.0SC (or was it a 3.2 Carrera !). Will we see you out and about this season ?
Henry
edited to add: I think Ed`s valuation might be a little on the high side, especially in view of the paintwork issues which could potentially be quite expensive. We`ve got a lovely mid 70k mls 993 coupe on the site as marque specialists asking £23,995 with 993`s starting from £18,995.

Privately I would expect a minter for £25k.

It may not be the prettiest but it's one of the fastest (Championship 2nd in class again). It's in having new sills fitted at the moment - Watson's asked what year it was - I gave the usual answer "which bit?" as it was built from various bodyshells, the proper car dealer's cut 'n' shut. Bothered?! I'd rather be noticed for my results than how shiny the car is.......
I hasten to add that the cars we sell don't reflect this approach to cosmetics of course.
See you in the Open at Oulton on April 14th Henry?

Ed was saying a 75K car with dodgy bodywork was worth £25k - that's what I was disagreeing with. Your old one is probably still worth what you sold it for.
