. . . and I'm still runnig it in!
Bought it in November knowing it didn't have long to go and it blew up in January - thought it'd last longer than that! - Just picked it up yesterday from Dom at TVR Power(nice bloke) after a £6k rebuild (ouch!). The new engine noise just makes me chuckle. It's automotive poetry!
Drove it from Coventry up to Leeds and back home to Essex at around 65 mph. Got over taken by lorries and coaches and laughed at by boy racers, but couldn't give a t*ss. Clocked up another 100 miles today so 500 to go before it goes back to Coventry for the once over - then I'm off! Roll on spring!
For all the naysayers, sceptics and gloom mongers, go stew in your own self importance! These cars may be a pain in the ass, it's part of their quirkiness. But generally the ups far out way the downs. Where else can you get jaw dropping looks, bansai performance and a real piece of british heritage for less than £22k?! If all that came with no hassle and German build quality it would cost three times as much and most of us would be buying something else because we couldn't afford it!
Thanks - I feel better for getting that off my chest!

Glad to hear you've got your toy back. I agree, for those days when everything is going well, there is nothing better than driving a TVR.
Just out of interest (I am a new Tuscan owner) when your engine blew, what exactly happened and looking back, where there any signs that it was going to happen before it actually went.
As you can tell from my intrigue, I haven't bought a Tuscan with a rebuild under its belt.

It had a noisy (tappety) engine when I bought it which I was told indicated worn finger followers. Castle TVR looked at it and told me it was on its last legs but might last another 5k miles. Apart from the noise there were no other indicators until, leavinf the motorway after a long run at high speed, the oil pressure dropped to zero before picking up again. The within about a mile of the motorway, plumes of smoke started billowing out of the exhaust and the pressure dorpped off again. Parked it up and brought it home on an AA truck. I eas told by TVR Power that the main damage was caused by a 'popped shim', which dropped into the engine.
When my 2001 engine "went" in 2003 the only symptoms was one of the tappets becoming very loud (a hard hammering sound). I drove it 80 miles home, and then to the dealer. Cam and followers replaced by Power and the car was better than new when I got it back after a few weeks.
Cheers,
Andy.
