ex workers knowledge
Discussion
Just read this thread.

Maybe there should be a sticky post for 'Ask the Expert' or something like that. I'm sure the ex workers who post on here would not mind passing on their combined knowledge for such things as the above post. If it was all collated in one easy searchable thread what a great help that would be.
Just an idea so feel free to stamp on me.

Have been thinking about this for a few weeks actually. Would be good if any ex-engine staff were able to give any speed6 info, i.e. when components were improved etc.
Don't know if there would be any legal issues to talking about stuff like this, but would definitely help form a clearer picture of the speed6 timeline!

Rather than being vultures and picking at the bones, there has got to be a more viable opportunity here for the ex-workers. In my neck of the woods there are small business advisors that could turn the ex-workers knowledge into a viable business opportunity (assuming they want to go down that route). Just my thought
Lets be honest how many TVR indies can there be out there. And its not a matter of picking at the bones or taking work of an indie. Its about those silly things that somebody who has built the car in the first place knows about. Just look at the forums to see how many questions get asked and how many different answers there are.

my mate jay did fit the doors tho so i can see where yr coming from

Well, can you ask him about the best method to adjust the doors? The near-side door on the cerb has dropped a bit and the lock catch just strikes the edge of the body as it's closed.

Two hex bolts at the top of the hinge. Grovel in the footwell to get to them. Slacken, reposition door and tighten up. Job is easy with one to hold the door and another to adjust the hex bolts.
If the ex workers wrote a parts manuals detailing the source of every part then I would buy a copy. I suspect many others would do too. Each book would be model specific. Now the workers a free of any confidentiality obligations to their employer it can be written.
It would need to show the original supplier and part number, what other make/model cars it was used on, the years used by TVR and TVR part number and so on. Modifications to other manufactures parts could be described. Where an aftermarket replacement or upgrade is available this could be linked to adverts within the book. Such advertising would provide revenue for the author’s.
The alternative parts supply efforts made on some websites are useful, but the important thing is that such a book is comprehensive. It should gain the automatic purchase status of the ‘Bible’. Perhaps Steve Heath could even give them a hand with his experience of authoring and marketing such a venture.
The revenue might also help out our factory friends in difficult times.
Let’s hear from the workers if they are prepared to write it, or if anyone can suggest other details to be included

NOT demeaning in away the production staff .....up to the days before christmas if you spoke to anyone at the factory about anything about other than current production there was a drawing down of memory by a small number of very long term and expert people that were relied on to dig deep and help by drawing on years of TVR experience.......BUT PW and NS and production staff along with everyone who works on the car in the real world will tell you that, the T cars were not the KIT cars that this topic might suggest. MOVING ON. The NOT BEING kit was why the NON TVR die-hards were buying the product, but they could not deal with a product SLOWLY evloving into a 2007 product when they could buy a 2007 for the same money NOW. (whatever the generic name that car was called). PW rightly so (instigated 2 engines to be independant) and NS want everything to be produced in-house bespoke to TVR and NS has spent money to own those rights. I hope he uses his money wisely and produces spares to service THAT market place with these bespoke parts/cars. We as owners should accept that as we drive our handbuilt cars along the road we pay the person who owns the rights to the parts OR the rights to the upgraded part. (for people who don't know me ...I have owner 51 TVR's in my time and own 7 at the moment) Adrian@
Steve...IF, they say there is a book in everyone, are you just showing off! Thanks for the help the other week.
