It's real but it's not really rocket science. It is a 2 stroke, forced induction (which the guy seems to think he has invented) and has 8 cylinders in opposed pairs, driving a cam rather than a crankshaft. Note that whilst he has reduced the piston friction due to the removal of side loads, the friction driving a cam system is higher than a crankshaft. The 900lb/ft of torque just comes from the effective gearing of the cam (more lobes = more reduction). Every now and then someone re-invents an axial piston engine and thinks that nobody has done it before, and therefore it must be the ultimate solution to every problem ever. I can't wait to see how hot it gets. Ceramic cylinder walls were tried a few years ago and were found to have various problems, including wear, heat generation, friction and mechanical strength.
300hp in a unit that size isn't unheard of. The volume/hp is probably comparable to a conventional piston engine (don't forget, 2 stroke 8 cylinder), somewhat poorer than a Wankel engine, and absolutely pathetic in comparison with a gas turbine.
"This is a full size prototype model" No cooling system, coolant pump, no alternator, no transmission (doesn't need one, yeah right). "For its world record capabilities it prefers to run on hydrogen". That'll be a mockup of an engine running on hydrogen then. Right.
"Great for military use". Yeah, because what you need in a theatre of war is big tanks of hydrogen around the place. Nice.
