Hi, Im a newbie to all this having purchased my first Porsche last October. I have a 2002 3.2S Boxster and have never been on a trackday, and whilst this appeals, Id like to go on an advanced driving course/day which would increase my handling and ability in the car before I take to the track. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where i could get such Tution? It also doesnt have to be in my car but in a Boxster. Im also based in north london so locations within a couple of hours drive would be good.

Im also interested in getting some extra power by installing superchips, any advice on this or recommendations?

Thanks

I've just managed to get a weekend date at this place. www.carlimits.com/

It's well recommended by all accounts. Quite near you too. It's not a track day but I expect to learn a lot. I'm used to rear wheel drive but not rear engined cars.

Try www.carlimits.com/ lots of people on here have learned a lot from Andy Walsh.

As for chipping the car etc, you would be far better of leaving the car as stock for at least one day, then look at getting the geometery re-set more for track days & buying some track day tyres.

Well driven Boxster S are pretty quick round a track.

After you've got some training join the PCGB and come along to some of our trackdays.

Lots of lovely Porsches. Pretty decent driving and organisational standards (there have been some exceptions to the driving standards part but not often - really). Lots of days in the South.

Quite newbie friendly too - good briefings, tuition available. Trust me - as a newbie - on a track day one twenty minute session with an instructor will leave you with enough "homework" for the rest of day.

I'd second that I did a couple of PCGB days at Castle Combe, very friendly and not at all intimidating.

www.porscheclubgb.com Porsche Club Great Britain.

Monthly meets (I do not go to these).
Events for the polishers at Stately 'Omes. (These can be OK to visit if nearby)
Track Days for the Petrolheads...oh... (I go to as many of these as I can)
Three or so different championships from the cheap and cheerful to the really rather serious. (I wish I could enter these)

For £60 a year you get a 12 mags - the ad sections are invaluable - done to a pretty high professional standard and access to the above.

I'm an ordinary member BTW.
