Does anyone know a good place to get a replacement washer tube that clips and goes around the wiper arm. The bottom end of mine has melted and sealed itself.

Cheers,

Andy.

Hi Andy
Long time no see
I converted my washer jets to a traditional set up, using the holes in the front scuttle panel where the pipes came through from the engine compartment, one of these pipes had got a little to close to the exhaust manifold, and had melted slightly, it was a bit of a fiddly job but worth it in the end, thread new tubing up through the holes, after you have put the retaining nut for the new screen jets, slide the tubing onto the new jets, and push new jets in the original holes in the panel, and the fiddly bit tightening the nuts on to the jets, i only did them hand tight, and had no problems, make sure you have rerouted the tubing to stop them form getting to hot again, adjust your new jets to your liking and then get rid of all that ugly looking tubing off your wipers arms, I bought new blades with the little spoilers at the same time, and it improved the look of that area of the car IMO. And all the bit where bought from Halfwitsthumbup
We must meet up soon, may be coming on one of our fast road runs??

I keep cutting the end of the plastic tube to the wiper, the ruuber one to the engine compartment is always OK. When I spoke with 'leven' at London Thunder they said they were ready with the Tuscan replacement system (might be worth a try). Like the leven chimmy/grif one , does away with the holes in tubes for a spray head.

I've had same problem. A solution is to continue the length of rubber tubing right up through the wiper spring and connect it to the plastic piping above the spring. The rubber tube of course will not melt.

I was looking at washer components at the weekend but didn't like the idea of drilling my own holes; I didn't think to re-use the existing holes, though I don't remember them being in an obvious location for this purpose. I don't suppose you have a photo of the "jets" in position on the skuttle ? Would be much appreciated...

Thanks guys, I'll try cutting away the melted tube and fixing it further up. I never had this problem on a Mk1 - and you guys have MkIIs as well.

T66ORA - yes, I really do need a run out. I've done no track days or fast road runs for ages. I'll keep an eye out for the next run out down south!

Unfortunatly i didn`t take any photos, and i no longer own the rather common Tuscan hehe
The holes in the scuttle panel on my car (2000) where not ideally placed but the washers can be postioned on different angles and the jets can be adjusted with a pin as normal.
