Houston, I have a problem.....

Gents,

Took the Griff for a run up the A1 this pm, all perfect.

Cleaned and polished under the bonnet a bit, then locked the car. Realised I'd forgotten something and attempted to unlock, but it seems as if the remote is locking as opposed to unlocking the car.

When I press the remote, I can hear a click, then three flashes of the indicators etc, but that's it. That's all it does now?

How do I fix this please.

I get this of one of the doors isn't closed properly..

Thanks for the advice.

I checked the doors this morning - all shut properly.

Tried unlocking the car two or three times - no luck - clicking noise, indicators on etc etc.

Freaky bit is, I get into my Golf to set off for the office, and as I unlock it, two of the four windows wind down???

Got to the office and all is normal - I think I'm gonna go home and get back into bed.

No idea about the Golf, but it sounds like one of the door pin switches in the Griff is playing up.

When you get a moment remove the battery earth strap, count to 10 and replace it. This should re-set the alarm. Rich...

Popped out home, opened the car through the secret way.

I started the car and noted that it was cranking very slowly (the battery is 15 months old). Connected the Accumate, which I have never used before as I get to stretch the cars legs every sunny/dry day (once a week at least in winter).

Also noted that when I sat insde the car, doors closed whilst idling, the green light next to the "lock yourself inside" button remains on.

No I did not reset the alarm/immob, how do I do that please.

If all the above fails I would suspect the dash switch - could be faulty or the connectors unplugging (I have had both so far) - have you had the dash out/ stereo fiddled with? Mige of made things loose

I had something similar when my Griff locked me out...ungrateful so-and-so after all the hours polishing it etc...also when the doors were open I would also get an occasional "thud-thud" as they tried to arm themselves. The solution seems to be to undo the door catch nipple-y thing housed in the bodywork underneath the door frame and give it a good clean. Its worked for me thus far

Had the Griff with my friendly local Morgan dealer (Techniques) this morning in Stotfold.

They removed and checked all swithces and cleaned all contacts for a start.

They manually "unlocked" the system at the solenoid? just behind the lock in the door frame. Then pressed the remote button, which locked the car as it should. Problem is, it won't do the reverse (ie opening).

I now remember that this happened about 18 months ago, and Tower View found the alarm? control box had discouloured due to overheating/fault. The control box was replaced.

Seems like the same problem again. Can this unit be replaced with a different/more reliable system - the name David Beer springs to mind?

Hear hear! There is nothing Carl can't fix with TVR alarms, and all that expertise is not too expensive either, you could fiddle around for weeks and just waste money -I drove my Griff from Newcastle to Southampton for Carl to sort a similar problem, which he did, the nice chap, AND fixed the Stereo, and the intermittent wiper delay thingy, at no extra cost!

Update from my last: A relay had packed up and needed replacing - not sure which one but Dave at Tower View did show me it (about 2in by 2in grey box).

Looks like they accessed it from the engine bay through a "panel" just behind/above the off side wheel arch as I can see fresh sealant on the panel?

All good now.
