Hello All,

I was cleaning the car and gently spraying the chassis clean today. I noticed that there were stones stuck between the tubes and the triangular plates, as usual I managed to clean all but one. The drain hole is clear, as I managed to spray water through the other way and mamaged to get most of the silt out, but the stones are stuck fast.

Any-one got pearls of wisdom as to how to get them out? I presume the only way would be to take the wheel off to get better access to it, but I don't have a level driveway. I also presue that if I was able to clean it properly I should spray some waxoyl on it.

Any (helpful, as I know how you guys can go off in a tangent) advice would be appreciated

Many thanks

Kim

you should be able to get most of the stones out using a screwdriver...flat file or something similar...the only real way to get it spotless and totally covered in waxoil is to do a body lift but that is too much work....perserverance is the key here!!!

And a pressure washer with a thin lance, works superb, and you dilute all that nasty road salt while your at it.

You could try squeezing the stone with a pair of narrow nosed pliers. Unless its a pebble you should be able to crush it. You should be able to get your hands in there with the wheel on full lock.

Broken hacksaw blade with some tape round one end for a handle is usefull. Most of the gaps, certainly the ones between the chassis rails and the body vary in width so if you encourage the stone towards the wider gap it should then fall out. Really does need the wheels off and the car up nice and high to do the job properly. Ideally borrow a lift at your local garage or tyre place. I find if you slip them a tenner they will often let you have an hour or so provided they are not busy. Saturday morning seems a good time as they often have more lifts than monkeys.
