This is a post from another message board from my mate Andy - Somehow I don't think he should worry too much...

Quote: Katie and I were on our way to Milton Keynes to catch a film and do a bit of shopping.
We were on a A road moving in traffic at a steady speed of i'd say 45-50mph (60mph limit).

I look in my mirror to see a Silver Ford Focus right up behind me with a blue light on top flashing. The I went to move over to let him passed, but he started waving his arms at me to move over completely so I did.
Feeling a little confused I sat there and the guy approached wearing Civi clothes. He then started shouting at me about how dangerously i'd been driving, apparently I 'almost hit the curb'. He said he'd been following me for the last 3 minutes and i'd almost hit the kurb and also had been driving close to the side of the road.
He then said that he is prosecuting me for Driving without due care and attention and that I'd receive 6 points + a fine. He asked how many point I had when I said (5) he said that i'd lost my license and took the keys saying my car would be impounded and i'd have to find my own way home!!!
He asked if i'd been drinking and then said he was going to get a patrol car to come and test me.
He walked away and Katie and I looked at eachother in shock. Neither of us could recollect any dangerous driving, nor almost hitting the curb.
He returned and said that I was under arrest and read his little script etc..
I then began to try and reason with him. Baring in mind i'm self employed and totally rely on my car to do my job.
I asked how he can justify taking somebodys livelyhood away by following them for 3 miles and he replied because 'you almost hit the curb' I replied that does that mean if I have half a pint of lager and am almost over the limit you can do me for drink driving? Or if I go 69 miles per hour on a motorway can you do me for speeding because I am almost speeeding??? He didn't have anywhere to come back and told me that everything I was saying was being noted to be used in my defence.
He then said for some random reason that it wasn't his first choice of job and he was only doing his duty.. I was like ????? wtf!?
He then said he'd make a deal with me.. I am to go on a weekend of driving safety lessons and I have to pay £175 for the pleasure. I had no choice but to accept.

So I'm now just waiting for the summons for this shite.

Has anyone else had any experience like this? If I was all over the road fair enough, but my passenger nor I can remember anything at all significant. Unquote

After chatting to him I found that the "officer" did not produce his warrant card and Andy says he appeared a bit nervous, plus his collegue stayed in the car. No producer was given and I've never heard of an officer giving a person earache without firstly establishing the "is this your vehicle sir? Do you know why i have pulled you over?" line first. Seems a tad odd, don't you think?

Is he still sat at the side of the road waiting for his car keys?

Think he needs to pop down the local BiB station and report it.

Sounds very sus. In a situation like that I'd asked to see a warrant card. If nothing shown I'd drive away and if possible try to get this guys reg (not always practicable I know).

:edited to add...: I'd telephone TVP to report this as other motorists may have come across this person. TVP no. is 08458 505 505.

So...no ID, unmarked car with just a blue light on it, plainclothes idiot who goes off on one, and he STILL hands the keys over.

WTF?!? I'd have been calling the [real] police as soon as he refused to show ID.

Defo report it to the local BiB, and change the locks on the car...

Report it.

Someone i know was pulled in a similar fashion but in an Omega last year.

Turned out to be the pikeys gaining address' and car details so they can go back and rob what they have seen.

Also used the fine system and took bank details on the scene.

My friend was suss to this after reading about incidents in the local paper and called the police.

Wonder if its the same people?

Just to update you, after I spoke to ASndy last night he called both local cop shops and asked about it, and they both said no way was it one of theirs! So, bogus cops in a Focus....at least he reported it now

With the fine and payment for lessons etc did he give them any details? Did he give them his address?

If so he needs to be careful...

Always ask them to identify themselves.

A "bogus cop" (IRA gunman) tried the same thing on my father when he was stationed in Northern Ireland during the "troubles".

My dad still comments on how close this bogus cop came to being shot dead. My dad drew his Browning and was easing pressure on the trigger, about to squeeze of a round when the bogus cop decided that my father wasn't bluffing and that he would be shot dead if he didn't comply.

IRA terrorist + AK47 trying to pull over a motorist, realises he's messing with a soldier who is on duty and armed AND who is quicker on the draw.
