Monaco is not somewhere you would wish to drive to unless you had somewhere to park or stay during the GP Weekend. The roads are closed from around 07.00 until 19.00 on the Thursday, at times closed on the Friday, closed all day Saturday and all day Sunday until around 19.00hrs. Hotels ramp up their prices to around GPB £400 a night for a 3* hotel and require a minimum 5 night stay, and restaurants etc charge the same. The best places to stay are towards the Italian border, or back towards Nice and use the train each day to get into Monaco. If you want to stay locally be prepared to spend big and you can book trip swith all of the usual IATA and ATOL registered tour organisers as found on Autosport.com.
Having worked in Monaco for a team a few years ago, its not a fun place to be, too much hype and not much to see. There are better races and better towns to enjoy, ie Spa, Montreal, Budapest, Bahrain (Very cheap), Malayasia, Indy USA (Very Cheap) and Magny Cours (great scenery and not madly busy due to location).

Horrendous. Man I know was stuck in traffic for nearly 200 miles there last year: said it felt like he was going in circles.

so the atmposphere is not that great all the players in their boats etc must be fun to see ?
