Hi all,

This morning I was pulling away from a set of lights near my home and I was plashed by the camera, pulling away! Now I started to move forward on the Amber, or Red Amber, and and then accelerated when the light went green, just like I have always done, thousands of time before. The car next to me did exactly the same.

Now I know that on the second flash of the camera the lights were green, but on the forst they were Red/Amber, and I know this means stop, but are the powers that be inforcing this?

If its a fair cop then no trouble, I was in thr wrong but I am just a little confussed this morning.

Cheers all and hope your Monday is off to a better start then mine!

Were you over the line whilst the light was red?

Hopefully there was no film in it - there are still a lot of speedcams and red light cameras which are set up to detect and flash but have no film.

Best not to do the pre-emptive move, especially on lights with cameras!

If you crossed the solid white line on red then points and fine are coming your way (assuming it was a red light camera).

If you crossed the line on red-amber that's in contravention etc etc...you MUST wait until the light is green. You were probably a little further forward today than before. Or maybe the guy next to you was a little further forward.

Here's hoping when they check the pictures it was the other guy.

Saw a bloke a few months back who had cocked up by driving over the white line (whilst it was green) but got stuck in a traffic queue with his big white van half over the line. Queue cleared. He moved. By then the light was red - flash flash. Almost certainly 3 pts and £60.

Good luck.

And assuming it had film as the majority still don't. It's another 14 or 15 day wait

I crossed the line on Red/Amber, which I understand means stop but I have never ever been flashed before doing this.

Dodgy thing to do in some places - in Chester and also Leeds (and, I imagine, other places) the lights are very tightly sychronised so Red/Amber your way is only just going on to Red the other way and the amber gamblers are still coming through.

Well all I can do now is wait and see, only three points and £60 so could be worse.

Our local traffic light camera flashes on amber, I was a bit quick from the lights one morning in my SD1 doing a drag start just remember green means go, amber means get the revs up and hold it steady

Green means go if the way is clear. Not sure about your definition of amber, either.

You should be banished to a remote island and shackled in chains for 25 years!! Tut...think of the damage you have done to yr local community and the wider society....!

I for one, will not be able to sleep this week....

PATHETIC that you even should be worried about such a trivial trivial matter, no doubt you checked both ways before commencing? maybe we should flash the old farts whom sit there for 50 seconds once it has turned green?

I thought as you approach a red light initally you engage line lock and warm up the rears, then creep forward until your wheel is touching the white staging line (not over it or you run the risk of running a red light & disqualification). Keep the revs up and as you rightly pointed out - if the way is clear hit the gas when the lights go green, at least thats the way my driving instructor told me, he was in the NHRA if that means anything ?

"Flashed pulling away" - an offence under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, S66 (actually, just the "flashing" bit; the "pulling away" is not, in and of itself, even in public, an offence) - Streaky
