Porsche GT spotted in the sun
Clear view of the humpbacked Panamera
Porsche's eagerly anticipated four-door GT, the Panamera, has once again been spotted in testing, just days after Car magazine posted pictures of Porsche's 2009 arrival in the snow.
This time, it's been spotted in the sunshine, down in South Africa. Dressed in green and providing a slightly clearer look at the humpback effect that appears characterise Stuttgart's latest baby.
The GT's set to broaden the appeal of the company's products, bridging the gap between the hard-core sports car fans and the bulky Cayenne. It'll use a mix of underpinnings, some from the Cayenne and some from the 911 Turbo, with the engine at the front and drive from the rear.
It's likely to be quick and cost up to £80,000.
Discussion
I agree. I can understand Porsche putting the corporate face on it (afterall, most other manufacturers seem to be doing that now, even Ferrari!), but what's with the big a$$. It will sell, undoubtedly, but it just looks a bit lumbering and chubby.
Let's hope this is some serious disguise work in action!

Much better pictures than last weeks. The rear door is obviously heavily disguised, and it looks as though it is hiding a much more sweeping line, like that seen in the design sketch. I'm squinting my eyes up a bit, and seeing a nicely proportioned car with some sexy lines....
It will be interesting to see how they make the rear look more in keeping with the rest of the car - currently it looks too fat arsed to be real.

Looks terrible... Aston Rapide, Mercedes CLS, or this??? Looks alone, I think the Porsche will be the ugly sister that never made it to the ball...
Hopefully, it'll drive like a dream and out handle the rest. It will also be an everyday use car and be made to a decent standard.
So, to sum: the ugly sister that never made it to the ball, but get her in bed and she'll go like a train!!!

"Expect a dual-clutch transmission to be in use, and the range-topping model could be fitted with a version of the discontinued Carrera GT's V10."
I attually like the look of it, love the idea of having the Carrera GT's V10

THE CAR PICTURED IN THESE SHOTS IS DISGUISED. This might be relevant input for judging the looks of it...

agreed...if you look closely you can see that possibly the only part of the 'real' car that is visable is the glasshouse
...the bonnet/wings, door coverings and rear are all fake IMHO.

I agree, there's even tape of the front bumper, and the rear spoiler is more of a housing containing the spoiler. I think there is a sexy number under all this fancy dress.

This month's 911 & Porsche World magazine has Computer Generated shots of the Panamera from "a reliable source". The rear of the car looks a lot better than the extremely donkey'd up mule!
Huh, if the 2-door version is essentially a shorter version of that it may just be the 928 "replacement" they've been talking about...since 1995.
