I am looking for a transaxle that will be able to deal with 800bhp from a Chevy V8, anybody got any recommendations?

The HP is not the issue.
What torque is it putting out and at what revs?
The Ultima uses a Porsche G50 box as the main choice but unless your SBC is making its HP by revving to 8000 then I suspect it will have too much torque for a G50 and you will have to move into the exotic/costly Hewland territory.

You may get away with a modded Porsche 930 Box, or some of their racing boxes, but really I think it will be a box from one of the specialists, especially if your planning to match the Torque figure to the BHP figure, prepare to pay.............

My porsche box can take 800bhp but 'only' around 650ftlb relaiably which is why I am trying to get raise the power band on my engine.....

To get a box that can definatelly take that kind of power you need to go to something like what Brammo sells but it will not be a cheap option.
