Toyo proxes wear characteristics

I've just noticed some wheel spinning on the rear wheels which seems to be getting worse (yes, even on dry roads!) I have Toyo Proxes all round - are they known to get a little less grippy when they get to the end of their life?

I spose a new set for the rears will be on the cards soon.

I noticed that after changing to proxies from Bridgestones. But they could be spun all through their life, not that I was doing it on purpose. onest orcifer.

Adam - personally .. I think it's a combination of your right foot and the supercharger

Yeah well Rev, maybe I'm getting a bit more daring putting the power down round corners.

Incidentally T1-S's seem not to be available any more in the size I want (245/45/16) - anyone been using Proxes T1-R's ? Are they as good in the dry?

True, and in the wet I find them superb. Mine are T1-R's done about 5ooo miles so far. I would and did recommend them.

T 1 R's on my 350. Much better than the Brigestones on my spare set of wheels, steering seems better planted and wet weather grip is a huge improvement

I have the Toyo 888's... on the rear..

Lets just say they never break traction in the dry and in the wet.. well I don't go as fast as I used too..

I have T1-R's on my 350 and it transformed the car! In the dry they are amazing - I went out once to really push the car to the limits on the backroads and could corner so fast that I was being flung around in the seat. I was in convoy behind a Sagaris too who commented how my car was handling.

On the main roads the car rolls nicely and feels very stuck to the road, backed up by some Autobahn sprints last year. In the wet there doesn't seem to be much loss of traction either, although I do drive differently.

I'll be buying another set when these ones wear out thats for sure!

We put some T1Rs on the back of the 400SE, as we could no longer get the Bridgestones, then proceeded to do a wet track day at Brands. The grip was very good but they did get a little warm even in the wet, the tread blocks seem to have leaned over towards the drivers side somewhat. I suspect they would be fine for road use though we are thinking about a set of 888s for dry track days.

Just bought some new falkens again, same as last time-about 70 notes each and still great!

Ive even gone from dunlops, to contis and falkens on the astra!

Still on my Bridgestones, but RE720s (15" stuff V-rated). After over 8000 miles and a few track days they still make me smile every corner, whatever the weather. Thought I would have finished them by now, but still over 4mm left on all corners. So what to do? Go drifting, and finish at least the rear ones.
Seems that lotus owners like a certain type of Bridgestones as well.
Based on my experience, will try Bridgestone again in the future. Had Michelin and they were really dangerous (like soap on your tyres going round corners fast!).

Adam, I would not worry too much. It may be the colder weather affecting the tyre. I have noticed that my Toyos can break traction easier in cold weather rather than warmer. Above 10 degrees C no probs at all. Anything 4-5 degrees and below changes their characteristics. I may be imagining this but it could explain a couple of things.

Well they are down to the wear blocks now, so won't be OK for the MOT next month.

I think they were behaving better in January, I've only noticed this just recently. Maybe my exhuberant driving has cured the rubber and it's gone a bit hard.

Anyhow, people seem happy with T1-R's so I'll order a pair, I found this place which has them for £99 each incl delivery:

That's annoying - I've just ordered. But in the size I want they are £87.60 from Mytyres.
