Anyone know if Honda are going to bring a replacement to the GL1800 in the near future as my mate who owns a 2006 model reckons they have a V6 model in the wings, but are waiting to see what BMW are going to do as there is a strong rumour that there is an 1850 GLT straight 6 in development and, as he reckons, the 1200LT came only a close second to the 1500 Goldwing, prompting them to release the 1800 wing in the first place too address the balance, they want to do the same if the rumoured 1850 appears.
Or is he just talking out of his hoop.

If they used the ST1300 V4 as a basis and stretched it by adding two cylinders to make a V6, it'd be 1891cc if they used the same bore and stroke... and if the bhp/litre stayed the same it'd have 175 bhp

Not bad for a fat bloke's sofa...

The V4 would lend itself quite readily to such a conversion I think: all it'd need would be block, crank, cams, primary and balancer shafts lengthening. The 'box is on the back, the clutch is on the front and the alternator /injection sits in the V.
And the whole thing is a stressed member in an alloy frame.

yes I think it might just work...
