Having now(with the help of some of you) decided on an exhaust and induction kit for my C4 (fabspeed and Powerflo by the way), I want to consider at a later date getting the brakes upgraded and think the Turbo system with red calipers may be the best route. Any comments welcomed.

You were up early on a bank holiday !!
The brakes are certainly fantastic on the Turbo, should be awesome on the lighter C4 although lets face it the standard brakes are plenty good enough. I think when you talk to the OPC the price may well put you off !! Although I am sure some other P'Hdrs will be able to talk aftermarket options.Best of luck.

Dave,

Me again! I have the big reds on my car (C4S had them as standard) and they are awesome.

At Imola last year, people were going out for a warm up lap, a hot lap, and a cool down lap. A friend with a 964 C4 was getting fade by the end of the hot lap.
I was going out for 8/9/10 hot laps at a time! No problems at all.

I think you can buy the conversion (4 discs and 4 calipers and various mounting brackets and pads and so on) for about 2800 quid i think.

According to Porsche GB I've abused my brakes on the basis that the rotors have hairline cracks. Having said that even though they've been abused I've never experienced brake fade. Even doing 3 quickish laps in succession at the Ring failed to get them not to work.

Daz, you must be really pushing that turbo of yours and getting on the brakes hard to be 'abusing' them so to speak, according to an article I read on the turbo the brakes a put under excessive amounts of strain during testing. Maybe they do fracture but have tested it so as not to get brake fade as you mentioned.

I did see a few 'abused' brakes whilst on work experience but these were on a Boxster and a couple of C2's.
