What have we had so far this series? Road repairs, Tractors and a stupid fly drive in the States. There seems to be less and less about real cars.

I think they've lost the plot

Given that I don't believe anything they say about cars, it's probably better that they stick to comedy and light entertainment. They still make me laugh.

I hate to admit it but I've bought two cars based on jezzas comments. The VXR and also a Mazda 6 MPS.

Top Gear is mainly an entertainment show based around cars... not a car review show. That's why they only really test super/hyper cars that we all dream about. Nothing much real world on there for me.

However, it is a fantastically entertaining show. The USA Roadtrip was some of the best TV in ages.

If you want real car reviews then you have to watch Fifth Gear and Driven surely?

Anyway, they love the Monaro, so they can't be all bad....

I think the problem they have had this series, is they have had to put a load of these challenges in to pad out against the now out of date car reviews they have done, due to the gap between series as a result of the hammond accident.

I hope normal service will resume in the next series. Having said that i'm still enjoying it all. The tractor article was quite interesting.

I think you have a valid point here, a lot will have been muddled up by the accident. However, I also think the entire thread is missing the point a bit. It's vaguely car-themed entertainment, not a TV car magazine. OK the tractors bit this weekend was a bit rubbish, but the US episode was hilarious, some of the best TG ever.

As was the captain slow in the Veyron, superbly produced bit of film.

And remember they now say it's about blokes "twatting about" rather than anything else. Big boys toys, as it were.

I love it. I don't care about Peugeot 207 reviews or whether my car is dirty - I want a bit of escapism and Top Gear provides it. The bit on the Lambo LP640 had me drooling (my all-time dream car). Works for me.

And it's true about this series being a bit "all over the place" - that's been blogged on TG.com as being due to Hammond's events.

I agree they have lost the plot. The article regarding level crossings was ill timed and in my opinion was a very serious issue trivialised in a moronic way by Jezza (who incidentaly i normally find very amusing). The stunts driving tractors through villages could cause major disruption and possible accidents due to frustrated drivers taking the law into their own hands

I was there and tried to let the tyres down on his tractor but it had tank tread.

I know its supposed to be general "boy" based entertainment but surely it was intended to be mainly about cars. The train at the level crossing and the relient robin rocket completely missed the point of the show. Sorry!

I agree. Would have been pretty offensive to accident victims or suicide families. As was the pretty crash jokes around serious head injuries in the first program of the series.

Top gear is still a fantastic light entertainment show. Jezza is one of the most genuinely funny entertainers i can think of. I really like the clip where he said that "if you see a man in a car, driving in the fast lane and doing 50mph. Than he's probably a paedophile" The way he came to that conclusion was very funny. Top gear makes the perfect Sunday evening viewing for me after putting the kids to bed and preparing for the week ahead.

What Top Gear is so very good at is making us all have an opinion about the show and then talk about it. The railway crossing was a very good point - so clearly obvious that it was not good to do with the damage potential in a typical Jezza way.

I was interested in the tarmaxing and even seeing the different tractors (what a fuel bill!!) and as for the US road trip - funniest thing I have seen on TV.
