Kill Switch

Has anyone fitted a kill switch to the battery of their Cerb?
I don't have a garage, and after 3 days the battery would drain, so I fitted a kill switch to the battery.
So far so good, the electrics work like new everytime....will this cause any problems?

3 days suggest either your battery is dying or there is an excessive drain on it. Something to check out I'd venture.

I thought "the key that must not be touched" was effectively a kill switch. Usual problems after use, were messed up control boxes I think, however if you are getting no issues then it seems a sensible way to go. As Steve says though, 3 days would mean a potential problem somewhere else so might be worth investigating the cause as well, might just be a dud battery.

I don't think he means the chromed switch in the dash area, he means fitting a switch that is connected to the main live cable. You remove the key to break the connection.

yep thats what i have done, seems to do the trick!
I think the key inside does the same thing, but too scared to touch it, although my 2 year old likes to!

No I know he means fitted a separate solution, just meant that theoretically the key does the same and ergo a kill switch might end up causing the same "issues" as those that have been reported by using "the killer key". Doesn't however seem to be causing problems yet so jobsagoodun

I have one to isolate the power amps for the ICE in the boot, but have never needed to use it. I think you need to check your battery and charging. Could be a alternator issue. Just had mine done.

I don't drive mine in the week usually and have no problems starting it at the weekend so i think you've got another problem which should be addressed...

I aways take the little key thing with me every time I get out of the car? Does everyone leave the key in? To me it's tempting fate if a scumbag looks in and see's a key left in they may think they can just bust the window and drive off. We know that's not the case but would they??

Do you therefore have to turn/use the key to get it out? Or does it just sit there, in/out, and wait to be "used"... or not as the case may be.

if the little metal key inside is a kill switch, how do you get out once you have removed it...a flaw in your plan?

Hi

I get in put the little security lock type key in by the speaker turn it to the right and press the start button.
On getting out I stop the car with the red button turn the key to the left then press the door button??
I thought this was standard??

When I take it in to get serviced they always leave the little key in and just give me the black fob thing.

Am I the only one using the key??

I'm interested in finding out the answer to this - on the basis that I've seen a few "don't EVER touch the little magic silver key"

I never touch the green flashing thing it has a mind of its own and I dont thing it works, the wife put her knee on the door button and the door opened at 40ish

Wasn't it The Heart of Gold that had a button which, when pressed, lit up a sign saying "Please Do Not Press This Button Again"? The silver key is the cerb's version of it.

Come to think of it, the HoG was powered by the infinite improbability drive too
