Have you had a go? I will take a look at this tonight. Can not wait. this game has been along time in coming. Lets hope that it is more like Red Alert 1 than 2 as RA2 was total shite

Demo is up on Usenet, for those of you who find the usual channels slow.

I've been really enjoying supreme commander (Total anhilation 2, essentially) - apart from the last level which was abosultely rock solid, took one helluva long time to complete, and got about 1 frame a second at times (FX-60, with 2 7800GTX's in sli!).
Looking forward to some skirmishes now to keep me going until C&C3!

I tried the C&C demo, and looks like i'll need a new pc... Now mine is a couple of years old (2GB, P4 3.2GH, NV5950), but plays Doom3/Farcry et al, at good FPS (1280*1024), but appears to have melted atteming C&C3 at lowest settings.

5950 is a bit long in the tooth... having said that it should play C&C3 a-ok, you've got enough grunt behind it. Anything else weird happening on your system?

It'll depend if you can turn off the DirectX 9 features on C&C3 - All the GeForce FX cards have real problems with DirectX 9 features but performed well as DirectX 8 cards. So if you can force C&C3 to use a DirectX 8 code path it should run alright.

I appreciate that the PC is a bit long in the tooth now, but it has lasted well so no complaints.

I just find it odd that I can run Far Cry at 1280*1024 at max most setting and high for the rest at 30-35 FPS and C&C dies horribly.

Not too bothered though as i'm going to buy a new PC soon.

On a side note still playing way too much Generals...

But farcry was released about 3 years ago

...and like I said if C&C3 relies on DirectX 9 shaders then any card based on the GeForceFX architecture is going to be hopeless.

Popped into Game today, picked up C&C the first decade for £20. Basically all the C&C games and expansion packs.
