Lambo makes lighter Gallardo

Lamborghini is set to launch a new lightweight version of the Gallardo at the Geneva motor show next month.

The Gallardo Superleggera will generate 530bhp from its 5-litre V10 and weigh 1,330Kg -- that's 10bhp more and 100Kg lighter. The result is that it'll hit 62mph in 3.8 seconds -- that's 0.1 seconds faster that yer common-or-garden Gallardo.

The four-wheel drive system is retained -- that'd be too expensive to strip out -- but with the extensive use of carbonfibre and a stripped interior, the car's lost a lot of weight, which makes the handling even sharper.

Don't crash it, mind. Carbon fibre's not cheap...

Plenty of hp thanks. As for the 4wd...not sure. Normally agree, but with 500+ italian horses, maybe it's a good idea!!!
