I have to put a tracker on my car for insurance purposes. Don't want to shell out £1k which Porsche seem to want and so I would be grateful for any recomendations for supply and fitting in the Midlands region.

Thanks

Mate just had a tracker fitted to his 997 C2S for £400, I can't remember the company name, but I'm sure that the company "Tracker" only cost approx. £400.

There are different types of trackers - make sure your insurance company accept it as adequate. The tracker I had fitted to my Lotus wouldn't have been good enough for the 911. The version that was good enough cost a lot more - I just went with the Porsche VTS in the end.

Btw it's a Cobra - you might be able to buy it direct without the Porsche markup.

"Tracker" had attrocious support last time I needed them. Call their support line (not sales) before you buy. Personally I'd recommend you don't get a tracker for this reason.

Have opted to go for the Trackstar Tracker - RAC

It is costing me £419 fitted plus £10 per month

Seemed fairly reasonable compared with the price quoted by Porsche.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Unfortunately my GT3 has a tracker that needs renewing - I'd rather fir the Trackstar, but can't justify the cost just to keep insurers happy.

I'm with Tracker for my BMW - they are a complete disaster area in terms of invoices ect. After this car goes i will never go near them again.

My 911 has the original fit with Cobra - service so far when i accidently triggered has been superb.

Got mine thru RAC TrackStar last year and never thought anymore about it until last November when some boy racer in his Ford KA decided he could stay 6 inches off my rear bumper and still out brake me!!!!

Anyway, when the recovery truck (!!!) was taking away my 996 I had a phone call from RAC TrackStar telling me that my car was being moved without my keys being in the ignition. It was a moment of light relief in a pretty stressful day and proved the system worked and that the aftersales customer service was top notch

Well Recommended.
