Insurance (revisited)
Discussion
Done a lot of reading, and not conclusively, or currently got the info I'm after... so perhaps a quick survey is in order?
I have a reasonable quote, but am interested in shopping around as I expect they vary (+/- 100% at least) a lot on the Cerb.
Some factors:
+ 30 or over
+ Garaged
+ Lots of years NCB
- Nitrons
- RR chip
- Spiders
I don't want to be left high and dry over the fact that "I didn't mention the Spiders", so looking to do it all by the book; comprehensive of course; with the full monty breakdown and all that.
There are admittedly lots of posts on insurance, but nothing useful I've found in this area so far...
Thanks in advance - and hope it makes useful reading for the future!
Phil.

Asking us what insurance costs, is like saying "I've got a 3 bedroomed house in blah blah town. How much is it worth??" It all depends.....
Of course. I'm looking for companies that cover. The note on A Plan is useful (thanks - have them calling me back some time soon), as you mention they cover those kinds of mods with little addition to the base costs. Most high street organisations end up doubling the original quote with a couple of mods, or wont even touch you.

I've found Sunninghill Brokers pretty good (they use Chaucer Insurance). I use them because they have (in my circumstances - old fart, full NCB, garaged) the best track day cover, but apart from that at £480 for a 4.5 L/W RR it's very competitive in any event.
what he said. Apart from the old f@rt bit
(and mine's a few hundred quid dearer)I've found all of my TVRs ridiculously cheap in insure despite likewise delaring suspension / audio / wheel / exhaust mods where applicable and being less than 30 (until a few days ago
). The Chim400 and Cerbera 4.2 were insured by Privilege who were untouchable for price for me (and have been since they launched, my daily driver and wifes car are still with them) and now my Chim450 is with Mannings, purely on account of getting full trackday cover - and that worked out about £200 more than the Privilege quote, so I would suggest they may each be worth a call.

Unfortunately they would not insure a Cerb as an only car. It had to be a "second vehicle", so they could not accommodate me.
Ironic as the reason I'm getting a Cerb is basically because I don't need another car
Plenty of people out there happy to insure me though. All seem to be around £900 for SW London.
Interestingly, Sunninghill are offering inclusive track day coverage in the standard cost, by simply doubling the excess for any claim "on the track". Not seen that approach before, but thought it was quite good.
