I had the same problem with my 5L Chimaera, several months after the purchase, it started to go off, called the aa out as did you, but ended up disconnecting the siren, which was faulty.

I thought the sound of the car itself is an alarm!

Replace the alarm. Gemini are no longer in existence and their alarms were notorious for PCB corrosion. No spares so change it.

thought i would have a little look at the alarm this morn. took it apart and found on the outside of the casing a small black grommit style plug. took this out and found a dial inside which is for adjusting the strength of the alarm frequency. turned it up and hey presto it now works. so much for the AA and their knowledge. any one else with a 92 griff and a similar prob email with your phone number and could possibily help you save a few quid.
