Angus,

Just prettying it up a bit . One of the fairings isn't tinted, and the other is so I'm just tidying it up a bit. I've had it valeted and have polished it to death so it's looking particularly good at the moment. It's driving really well, seems to be appreciating the frequent use. The reluctance to start easily when hot has disappeared too!
All it needs now is a good service and a trip to Mark Adams for a chip/tune and It'll be sorted!
Then there's always the carbon fibre induction bits which look interesting.....to me, if not my bank manager.

You know, I never noticed that. But last year I did have one replaced around the time it was resprayed. Shows how observant I am.

An ACT carbon fibre plenum would suit that car VERY well...

is replacing with smoked covers wise? The headlights on mine are so poor (about as effective as you would normally expect sidelights to be) on low beam, will you replace the bulbs??? anyone got some advice re this matter?

In a word (or 2), probably not! See Steve's comments on www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=25017&f=9&h=0&hw=fairing. However, I'm in the same situation, with smoked everything except the one fairing, and I don't drive (much) at night, so I don't consider it a problem. Uprating the bulbs isn't generally considered the best idea either, unless it's with the Xeon kit!

Have you checked the condition of the reflectors? Those on my 96 car look pretty dull. Haven't tried to remove them yet, so hope they will come out through the inspection cover. Shouldn't be too expensive for new ones from a Valeo (Cibie) agent.

Paul.

Mine failed its MOT purely on the (unsmoked) o/s fairing not letting enough light through. I was distinctly unimpressed with the TVR agent who ordered & fitted a new fairing and then a new (brighter) bulb. The old o/s fairing looked identical to the n/s (i.e. fine) - but the difference was I had fitted a Halfords 30% brighter jobby to n/s myself - and that light was OK.

The point of this is not to have a moan - I should have put my foot down (on the mechanic's head?) - but to point out that even an UNsmoked fairing can give you (expensive) MOT probs...

If your having problems try the mod-wise kit. Haven't tried it myself but have heard good reports. Mine are already pretty good (for a Griff) so haven't bothered persuing it.

I got smoked headlight fairings from Tower View, though that was about five years ago.

I always wondered why no-one made glass ones. Glass is cheap and it's much better at transmitting light than perspex. Ideas anyone?
