Hi all,

What's the score with taking our cars on track at PF this year? I'd love to take mine out there for a hoon, so how do we go about booking it? Do we need to wear helmets or the cars meet any criteria to be allowed on the circuit?

Hi Leo/all

We will have Sunday morning track sessions (MSV may breathalise) starting at 10.00 until 13.00. We will sell the slots from the site a couple of weeks before the event (within the news section- linked to the PF forum). Any remaining slots will be sold on Saturday afternoon.

Usual Motorsport Vision rules apply relating to exhaust noise (typically 105db), although cars do not need to be road legal. The pit lane is open and a briefing and duck and drake lap will take place for all groups. Helmets will need to be worn (you can borrow one from MSV on the day) and the course will be marshalled so you'll need to be aware of the flags and circuit etiquette, though this will be covered in the briefing.

Brilliant, thanks for the info thumbup

Very much looking forward to it - I've never taken my car on track. I'll be doing it for the first time at Castle Combe in a month ish, so will have a tiny bit of experience come PF.

Thanks again

I've never taken my car on track either...come to think of it, i've not even driven it yet yikes (although I am expecting it to be ready by May...I'm not too sure it'll be ready by end of March as first promised)

I have been on a track before, Silverstone albeit many years ago for my 21st birthday pressie from girlfriend (now wife) charging around in a Lotus Elise...great fun, wanted to get out on a track again for years.

Get on there and enjoy yourself, it's not nearly as scary as people make out, just drive sensibly, observe the correct ettiquette and you'll be fine! I'm sure you can collar someone with more experience to ride as a passanger if you feel you need advice etc etc.

Do we need to book track time in advance? Or is it just a case of turn up?!

Am TOTALLY going to beg a ride (or several) before I even try it myself. I'll also have to wait till everyone's not looking 'cos otherwise I'll be laughed off the track if I do decide to go on in my own car...

yes Driving on track is *fun* as long as you don't do anything stupid, as Iain has said!

Mind you the only track days i've done have been the experience days, one in a Ferrari 360, one in a Formula Ford and one in a Lotus Elise! Never took my own car on track before!!!!

If you've ever been to a trackday you'll know that the cars come in all shapes and sizes, from Nobles and Caterfields to £50 Golfs that get delivered to the scrapyard on the way home.
You'll be 'right...hey I'm going to be taking a 2CV on track...

Unfortunately it wont be until everyone else has had their play, and I'll be out there for quite some time so you'll have plenty of chance to learn your lines for next year.

Surely you'd have to draw a pretty short straw when it came to marshalling on the trackday part? On the marshal's trackday at Brands, there were definitely more marshals in cars going round and round than there were on the bank!

I am soooooo looking forward to taking Kermit out for a thrash round Snetterton! The BH Indy circuit isn't really the best environment for a 1.8 tonne estate! By the time you're up to power, it's time to slow down again! laugh
