Finally got the new stainless manifolds fitted on Tuesday and what a difference! Just spent the last 3 days scampering around Dorset and Somerset, done just over 600 miles!

The guys at Topcats came up trumps again and did a great job, what was quoted as a couple of hours turned out to be the best part of 4 hours to get them on. Thanks again to Brian & Warren

Had a sneaky peek at their new workshops, going to be impressive when finished. Anyone going to the open day, I think it's Sunday 25th May?

Cheers

Mark

Yes - I'm looking forward to seeing the new place. And maybe get to sit in the Tuscan racer for a few minutes making brrrm brrrm noises.

Warren was saying that the 2-seat Tuscan may out to play for short runs , but don't quote me on that!

Like quite a few people on here, had loud ticking noises coming from the engine, had the camshaft replaced due to excessive wear but still clicking tappety noises Turned out to be the usual, split in one of the manifolds. It had been welded at some stage but not properly as it turned out, once the old manifold was removed you could see there was a crease behind one of the tubes about half an inch long with a hole in.

Having had the exhaust system replaced in November for a stainless one, the plan was to have the manifolds done but it's taken til now to get round to it!

The standard mild steel manifolds get very 'carboned up' (Warren speak!) and get very brittle, resulting in cracks. stainless ones don't so had them fitted

Sounds sooo much better now. No tractor like noises under load and they look the dogs danglies

Cost, just over 700 squid fitted

The actual manifolds were £400 but add stainless bolts, gaskets, labour (4 hours in this case) and that dreaded VAT
