suspension knocking noise...

just a quickie....

when hitting speed bumps (or any bad pot-hole) quicker than expected there is a loud knock / bang form the suspension, it doesn't do it when bieng gentle & has come on over the last year or so, suspect it may be the suspension bushes as when upgrading to avo's last year did not change them!!

any thoughts & if it is the bushes, are they a doddle to change?

Have a look at your ride height and suspension travel because with those very hard bump stops used by avo and others, if you ride too low and hit them boy will you know it. That's why I got Gaz to put the progressive bumpstops on their shocks and ensure the overall length was 14" with a shorter body.
This is not confined to S's, I had to lift a Chimp 25mm all round to stop the same problem.

yes will have a look at that, I have been riding a fairly low & hard set up, when I fitted the shocks I uprated the spring pressures to 350 on the front & 300 rear, & probably have dial on quite stiff also, so shouldn't really be hitting the bump stops too easily but may try raising anyway, its an easier option than changing the bushes at least!

Thats not too bad on Avo, I would have suggested 350/275 but you can easily dial that out on the rear by turning down the adjuster, front fairly stiff and rear compliant would be the way I would set it up.
